How do seals get Motivated to train or to want to be in the best shape that anyone can be in? And I'm not just talking about at BUDs I'm talking about anyone who wants to be in the best shape of there lives. How do you get the Motive to do it?

i think you either have it or you don't. i think it takes a certain kind of person to want it. every few months or so my roommate will come up to me and say he wants to start lifting with me because he's skinny as hell as has no muscle, so he'll lift with me for about a month and then give it up, and then i'll keep asking him if he wants to lift and he'll just say no, everytime. so that's the kind of person he is. I guess the motivation is knowing that you'll be in the best shape ever. Some people don't care about that, but some do.

Also, maybe it's not even a question of motivation. How do you motivate yourself to do the things that you enjoy doing? Do you even need motivation? Some people just love exercising and they do it because they love it, not because they feel that they have to. But those are just my thoughts.

Most find herring a good motivator for seal training. I like squid myself.

I do not think it is the case of "You got it or you don't." I think it is more the case of "You have found your motivation or you have not." Do not give up hope, if being a SEAL is what you really want, then you will find the motivation for it.

i think pride is the biggest factor here. Call me crazy but it seems no different than you and your buddies punching eachother in the arm in grade school to see who can take it more. This is the manliest job in the world probably. i mean logic tells me that everyone who does it has a tough guy bravado deep down inside and enjoys proving it to themselves by doing crazy, hard, stupid things. this could be an explanation why the average joe gets it done and the all state tri champion does not sometimes in the program.

I'm not a SEAL but merely getting prepared for it. Everyday I ask myself, " Do I really want to do this?" and I always come back and I say, "Hell Yeah I want too." Motivation I guess for me is thinking what are people back home gonna think when I come back with a Trident? That kid they saw at school they they really disliked or was a pus** because I beat his a** a few times. Or show up my father because he thinks I wont make it anywhere in life.

I don't know I guess it's really different for anyone. Like everyone else says " You have to want it."

Yes you really have to dig deep to find motivation sometimes. At times it's hard for myself to find it when I wake up after a night of the baby crying all night and after a evening of chasing after the the 6 and 8 year old to clean there rooms and do there homework. So I think of it as being something that you really want deep down inside and for me the motvation isn't difficult to find it's the distractions that get in my way. Alot of the distractions that I face are unavoidable, so I have to do a lot of compromising and with my family supporting me at times that makes it easy but other times it's still really difficult. But hopefully with the dedication I have and if this winter doesn't kill me up here in the Pacific Northwest everything will work out and I'll get my chance to kick *** in Cali this summer.
