Pack running

I have a Mil-spec Plus level 3 assault pack that I run with, but my only problem is that the straps go through a standard loop to attach instead of being permantly attached. I have tried all types of loops but none will hold it tight enough to run well in. Does anyone know any special tricks or should I just put a row of stiches?
