Hi guys.

I've been taking the GNC Mega Man Sports vitamin/dietary suppliment for a few days now. I was wondering if i might be taking in too much or if this could harm my body more than help.

Any insight would be very helpful.

I haven't looked into that particular vitamin. Check on the amount of iron, and fat soluble vitamins to make sure you aren't getting more than the recommended amounts for YOU. One thing to keep in mind when choosing a supplement is that vitamins are only fragments of the nutrition that is found in whole foods Fruits and vegetables) . You can take what you want, but remember that w/o the phytonutrients that are found in the whole foods you won't get the same effect from the supplements.

A couple little raw food facts for you....
Dark green, leafy vegetables are rich in calcium and magnesium, two minerals that will help to noursih your nervous system.

Vitamin C in citrus helps your body to absorb iron, which has been found to improve concentration and mood.

Blueberries contain chemicals that improve brain function, and includes the ability to remember recent events

Pumpkin seeds are one of the few foods that contain Omega-3 fatty acids, which are essential to keep brain cell membranes functioning.

Any type of wholesome, unprocessed carbohydrate is great fuel not only for your muscles but also for your brain. Carbs are the chief nutrient fuel for your brain and a great source of thiamine (vitamin B), which reinvigorates your brain and nerves.

Thanks for the great info. I'll be sure to tag along next time the parents go grocery shopping and see if I can get some good foods.

Buy the Navy Seal Nutrition guide, it's a very good book and has all the questions you need about vitamins.

Walnuts are also a good source of Omega-3 fatty acids.

I take GNC Mega Man Sports. It is simply the best multi vitamin you can buy. It is really good for people who are very active, but keep in mind that it was designed for people who work out. It also makes you Piss the coolest looking Nuclear yellow you have ever seen

And that nuclear yellow piss is the excess vitamins going right through you. If you have a reason to take a particular vitamin in amounts exceeding the RDA, you would be better off buying a good multi from Rite Aid, and taking more of the particular vitamin separately. It would undoubtedly be cheaper than a mega-expensive multi that you immediately piss away.

Yeah after I took it a few hours later I was like "uhh, I've been drinkin alot of water...shouldn't that be clear...?"
Then I remembered the vitamins. So you don't think the vitamins that get flushed out will harm my liver do you? Because I'd rather keep that in good condition.

And if you just eat fruits and veggies, or take a whole food supplement, your pee doesn't change colors at all. Interesting!

guys,

for the typical, average person, the bread thing is right.

however, if you're training for BUD/S, or if you're an athlete, just eat bread. period. you're not going to get enough 'simple sugar' from white bread, pasta, or rice to make a single bit of difference. in fact, when i was playing D-1 college sports and olympic development training for that sport, we were fed white spaghetti, bananas (LOADED with sugar), and all sorts of other things 3+ meals a day. no one had trouble, no one gained weight, no one developed excess lactic acid. bottom line: you need carbs. period. eat them and quit listening to the uninformed general populous cry about how bad they are for you.

working out at these levels, carbs don't matter so much, as do the quality calories-- aka bread is better for you than a can of coke.

Carbs yes, but you need more complex carbs. The more complex carbs, the longer that your body will feel full. It will also cause your metabolism to work harder and more regularly, if you eat smaller portions more frequently on a daily basis.

Also, "white" pastas have a higher glycemic index ranking = will cause your blood sugar to rise and force your body to think that it needs to store fats (regardless of how much you workout).

The more whole foods the better. Whole wheat breads and pastas included.

As for multivitamins, try "Stresstabs Advanced" A good mix of vitamins and minerals, plus you only need one a day, unlike GNC MegaMen where you need to take more.

among other things, yes.

it also promotes winning, wild post-game behavior, fighting will running at full speed, insane amounts of blood and broken bones, playing dirty and not getting caught, getting even, shaking it off, and drinking.

on another note, never participate in a triathlon that isn't sponsored by a bar or alcoholic beverage company. that's the rule of thumb.

That may all be so. I've never played soccer. But I've got to tell you, to me, it's one of the most insanely boring sports ever to watch. No offense and I'm sure I'll catch hell, but I'd rather watch ESPN's coverage of the national spelling bee. By the way, can anybody please tell me why ESPN covers the spelling bee?

Agreed. Even in college, I had a general rule not to drink before noon (except during football season, tailgating started early). But a beer never tasted so good at 9:00 in the morning as when I finished my first (and only) half marathon. Also, great for deadening the pain!!!!!
