Alright, another knee pain post:
It seems that for the last few weeks at the 1/2 mile point my left knee starts getting this numbing sharp pain. The icing is that the pain comes and goes through out the day, especially if I trot, squat, or look at it funny.
Anybody deal with this before? If so let me know what worked for you. I'm doing the Advil and Ice thing but this sucks and I want it to be over with.

SOLVED!
It was my form. I've been running the same way for over 15 years. A coach, can't remember which team/sport/school, in the 7th grade suggested that my heels should not touch the ground when I run. Or at least that's what I took from that moment.
So I've been running like a jackass in heels only on the balls of my feet. I was reading through Stew Smith's book and when he literally spells out how you should run at first I was like "He's made a mistake". Then common sense set in and I spent the afternoon watching runners' feet. Then I had my Yoga teaching wife take a look at "My way" and "Mr. Smith's way". Apparently "My way" was snapping my knee every step and which I only pray has no long term effects.
I ran using Mr. Smith's way today. My legs were killing me, because I was using muscles in a way that I haven't been for so long. AND the important part was that there was no bad knee pain.
Lesson learned.

I'm a little confused... so you ran up on your toes before? I had some heel issues when I was young and still growing and I was taught to run up on your toes more, particularly when sprinting. I even tend to walk more up on my toes as opposed to my heels. You have me a little concerned now... could I be causing some sort of knee damage by doing this?
