I just took the pst the other day and my SEAL motivator took me aside and told me that my asvab scores were great and that he suggested that i go to EOD instead of SWCC. I kept an open mind about it and looked it up online and this stuff looks pretty cool. Could someone please give me some input on this. Is this a good move? What kind of job outlook would i be looking at in the civilian world? He said that once out into the civilian world that i would pretty much be guaranteed a 6 figure salary. I couldn't see anyone making a 6 figure salary in a police bomb squad so what job would this be? Thanks

Ben,
i am not sure wat civillian jobs u can get from EOD in the navy but, it all depends on wat u want to do in the navy, wether its SWCC, EOD, or SEAL.
and if any one of those seems interesting, apprehend it.
P.S. what exactly is a SEAL motivator? and how do i contact one?

I think all of the different Spec War/Spec Ops options are great you have go for the one that deep down you want. Because when you go through whatever training when the **** hits the fan and it gets extremely rough during a evolution and you start questioning your motivation I don't believe you are going to think that if I only stick this out I will one day possibly have a 6 figure salary. You have to go with the one that you want inside and don't let anyone steer you away if that is what you desire. My desire is to be apart of NSW I'm going SWCC because of my my family's best interest and because of my interest. It has taken me a few years to get to the point of me actually applying for a program and I would to have a shot a BUDs but I believe that SWCC is better suited for me and my family so hopefully come summer I will be headed to San Dog to give SWCC training hell. I have pted with a few EOD tech's and have hung around one the EOD commands and I have a lot of respect for those guys so if playing with bombs and diving is your interest then go for it because SWCC is fast boats and machine guns.

To contact a SEAL Motivator go to the offical Navy SEAL website and you can contact one through there. They will be able to help you with joining the Navy, get your PST done, PT, answer questions etc.

You may be able to get into bomb disposal for a Law enforcement agency. Also I'm sure there are some explosives manufacturing companies out there that would be looking for someone with explosives experience. Don't quote me on this but maybe mining or tunneling also.

There are many jobs out there that will earn you a better than living wage. I personally believe we have the best program. I'm sure SWCC and SEAL personel feel the same way about their jobs. Choose what is right for you. If you have questions about EOD, I'll do my best to answer them.

I once talked with a guy in Army EOD and said he could make alot of money with private security companies in Iraq and Afghanistan. He said these companies are the ones that take all the IEDs, make a rather large pile out of them, thus creating a rather large boom.

They do. Have a good friend that spent 20 Yrs Marines EOD.. did a 6 Mnth contract in Iraq. Dont know the details but yea, they blow alot of stuff up that they collect. BUT ~ there have been quite a few civilian contractor deaths doing this right along with the Military EOD guys.
