My first post here.
My son will soon be entering 3rd Phase and was going to present to him a gift as a gesture of appreciation when he graduates BUDs.
I want to give him a knife that he may carry with him durring his SQT and hopefully on into the Teams.
Please advise as to what restrictions are in place with the Teams in regard to edged weapons that they may carry as part of their gear.
I was thinking of giving him one of the hand made Khukuris from Himalayan Imports, but with a coustom Kydex tactical sheath.
Thank you.

My favorite is the seal pup knife but that's issued at some Teams. If someone were getting me a knife I would like a nice titanium dive knife with a good leg or thigh sheath. I always wanted to get a Khurka but it's not really practical. Hope this helps! -- Johan

As i am not in any service i find it hard to even post a response to people i have such a great deal of respect for. But i do feel as though i would not be doing my part if i didnt let people know of a great knife builder in alberta canada named greg lightfoot.www.lightfootknives.com
As one of the best i have ever seen, he builds the best and is one of the top sheith builders in the world.
as before , respect to all
I just visited the site and all i have to say is Holy S**T. Those are some sick knives...

This is my initial post on the Navy SEALs. com forums. With respect to an edged weapon with both versatility and reliabilty, my vote goes to the SEAL pup. It's not bulky and comes with a great sheath that can be carried in several ways. Mine needed a little work to achieve a more silent draw but that's not an insurmountable problem.
Overall, its well worth the $ spent.

You wanna get him a real knife not sorry *** SEAL pup POS go to TOPSKNIVES.COM find the "Border crossing" (a modle of knife) buy him that send it to him and be ready to hear how incredible the knife is and how happy he is with it. TOPS knives is the company that developed the knife for the movie THE HUNTED with Tommy Lee Jones. That knife is called the Tracker they have excellent knives trust me.

Agreed on the TOPS knives, however I like the Cochise the best of all. I have been fortunate enough to have visited the factory which is in Idaho Falls.
