Specific Responsibilities: Provide in-depth Training & Operations expertise, assistance and liaison at the strategic and operational levels of the DND and the AFP. The SME interaction with the DND, AFP J3 and the AFP Office of Special Studies is to provide advice and assistance on a broad variety of operations and training development subjects, including policy, regulations, and all aspects of training and operations development. The work is envisioned to result in the institution of systemic processes at DND and AFP, which should facilitate the enhancement of AFP training and training development. The critical goal is to transform the AFP into a force proficient in joint operations; hence, the concept of joint operations and maneuver warfare must be embedded in AFP training; shape how AFP forces are organized and equipped; and, critically, guide how AFP forces are trained and deployed.
Principal Duties/Responsibilities: 1. Provide subject matter expertise necessary to assist and advise AFP in evaluating current training policy and methods; determining training deficiencies; and advising of the recommended organization for training development. 2. Advise and assist in the development of policies and procedures for training management in all services of the AFP. 3. Advise and assist in the development of required joint training and operations approaches. 4. Provide technical expertise and subject matter expertise for the planning, preparation, coordination, and publication of standardized training and operations policy and doctrine. 5. Writes and updates project documentation including system procedures, presentations, and training materials.
