Alright, so I have roughly 30 days to get in running shape. Maybe less, if they say they're going to kick me out of the Special Forces contract if I don't pass my PST. The first time, I hadn't been working out, swimming, or running at all. I just assumed I was always in good shape and it wouldn't be that hard. Anyways, I cramped up real bad in the 500 yard swim and missed my time by a minute, I nailed the push-ups, sit-ups, and pull-ups. I puked and by the time I was running, I felt like my body was about to shut off. I didn't make the run by 30 seconds.

Anyways, my second time, I wised up. I learned that it actually was going to be hard(don't bash me for that). I nailed my swim(after learning that form is key) and did everyhting like last time. Felt like puking on the pull-up bar but didn't and busted out 10 with good form. So I had passed everything and here comes the run. Seeing as how I wised up and started running, I figured I'd nail this along with the others. My time actually got worse. I added another 30 seconds making it a total minute off. I pushed myself even harder this time. I'm sure I wasn't too dehydrated, and I didn't waste all my gass on the swim for a reason. But all the preperations didn't pay off. Sure I knocked two minutes off my swim, added some more sit-ups and pull-ups, but I remember actually feeling twice as good as I did last time before the run.

I'm worried that my run isn't going to get any better. If I can't even make the minumum requirements for a mile and a half run in under 12:30 then I won't stand a chance in BUD/S. Keep in mind that I'm shooting for SWCC, not SEAL, that's why the run is 12:30 and not 11:00. I'll be the one dropping you guys off so a little help would be appreciated.

Maybe try some Run/Swim/Runs (3/1/3 to start off).

If you want to build endurance, practice working out for as long as you can without any rest between exercises. Running several miles at a time will also help.

I would also recommend not eating or drinking anything an hour or two prior to your PST, as doing so will probably cause you to cramp up.

Pace yourself on the run. You probably already know this, but it's worth throwing out there just in case you're making the mistake of trying to sprint the whole thing. All you need is an eight-minute-per-mile pace to pass the running portion of your PST.

To me, a month seems like plenty of time. Just keep up a steady workout, and you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

Good luck!

Just keep on running and swimming. The night before drink a lot of water and and maybe a few hours before SIP on some gatorade. A lot of times when I go for a run I'll do a lot of situps before I go to get used to my stomach feeling really tight while I run. When you think you're gonna pass out on the run and can't go any further..run harder.
