I ran into this website that can track your mileage anywhere you run. It's actually a pretty cool site.

www.gmap-pedometer.com

The "Usage Instructions" is on the bottom left. This site will track your distance when you double-click your route. Markers will be placed at the end of each mile or kilometer, and at the beginning or end of your course. If your course is a "there-and-back", click the Complete there and back route link once you reach the midpoint.

Just thought this would be a useful tool for anyone who runs in their neighborhood, city, or beach. I tracked our 1.5 mi PT route and it's pretty accurate. I also found myself a good run route in the morning so I can leave my house and get back in roughly 6 miles. There's even a calorie counter, but I don't know how accurate that is. I prefer the "satellite" view than the "map" view.

I use a similar site:

www.mapmyrun.com

They seem to be pretty much the same.

i just realized that thing uses the google earth engine. but if you download the program, you have better viewing options and it is easier to set the marker points.

yea just bought the nike plus thing....its pretty sweet. Keeps you motivated too because you can do challenges with people on the other side of the world and find people who are even running in your neighborhood. And it shows you your best times, longest runs. And you can look at it while you run. It's great for me because I don't normally run on streets I run on grass, over obstacles, over dirt mounts. Anything that makes it more difficult and it gets your legs and lower body used to ducking (under trees should you chose a route that you have to do that on) and just plain using different muscles but you still get a VERY accurate time. And it shows what pace you are running at if you keep running at that speed IE 8 min mile, 6 min miles and so on. Anyone use it in the Dallas/plano area?

This is a great site to Log your Run time and miles as well as push ups, sit ups, flutter kicks, pull ups, swim time and distance. The run log is definitely not as nice as Nike+ but it does keep track of other things then just running.

MajorSmith--

Try Walkjogrun.net

there's more than one way to use it with google earth, but fyi, it opens to America. slide the tracker down, and it'll pan out to an earth view. click on israel (you can use the satellite imagery if you'd like), zoom in as far as you'd like and the begin.

you can either look at the map and place markers or you can enter street names.

tons of stuff to do on there, but we use it primarily for maps. too many back roads that don't have names make it easy to get lost with 'simple' maps.

Another great site to log workouts and pretty much anything is www.beginnertriathlete.com

In the training log you can use the integrated google maps to track distance and elevation for your runs and biking.
