I recently started weight and conditioning a few weeks ago with the football team and was having problems with my left calf muscle and have been working through it but it is starting to get worse as the weeks go on. The pain i am experiencing is a sharp kind of ache when i run and squat ect... If anyone has had similar issues or can give me some insight on what to do i would appreciate it greatly.

I had the same problems only in both calfs, you should, "tell your coach if its getting seriouse", Have you "icyhot it" yet? "strech it out" if you can and massage it. Why its hurting is because your not used to running on your toes, thats how it was for me, you'll get over it soon, your calfs is just breaking down and getting stronger.
The more you push your running or football practice the more its going to hurt(its not used to the running).
I run 10miles a day every week,4 to 5 miles a day every week and when you run it for the first time you should expect it to hurt, but after running it so much youll recover from the pain you used to have.

so payne do you run 10 miles a day or 4-5 miles a day because you say both which is contradicting.

You should go see her NOW. You don't have any idea what this is. By waiting you could be aggravating it and it could BECOME something serious, even if it isn't yet. The trainer is there to help you KEEP from getting seriously injured -- let her do her job. If not the trainer, go to a doctor. Ignoring it is not smart.

What kind of pace do you run the 4 mile runs in? How long does the 10 mile run take you?

I run all my miles on a jog pace without stoping, after the 4 or 5 mile about 50 meters near my finish i give it all i got, but i never got around to time it.
This is a approximant guess on the 10 mile: i start after school and take off at 3:40 and dont get back in'till around 5:00 always , and after im pretty beat down, but yeah i have two other guys that run with me. But the point of the matter is that my calfs have gottin stronger over the pain and soreness.
