At what point (feet per second) does a bullet actually penetrate the skin?

Well.. Look at it this way. A paintball gun is normally chronographed to be set on 250-300 fps for safe shooting. If you put a marble in the gun it's going to break the skin, and hurt like everything.... Now if it shot a sphere shaped object I'd imagine it penetrate your skin.... I know 45 pistols shoot around 900 fps (correct me if wrong, what I read) and it will flat nock you on your arse. I'd imagine it wouldn't take a lot to stick in you. I can't give you a exact "fps",but this should help some.. lol this is a hard question to answer here....

Well, I guess there are too many variables in this question.

In what way? The same way I, being young, am scared of the dark or the monster under my bed?

There are too many smart young kids that are obsessed with guns that could well put their efforts into something worthwile.
If you have a desire to be a SEAL they will teach you what you need to know about weapons wen the time comes..
And if you think I am afraid of things that go bump in the night.. Think again sonny, I am one of those things..

Your assuming i'm obsessed with guns, which im not. 'Twas just a question that just happened to pop into my head.

Well if you aren't scared the way a young child like me (who is scared of the dark, and monsters under his bed) is, in what way are you scared of somone asking that question?

If you need to ask the question, he can not explain the answer. You have no frame of rererence.

By "bullet" lets take the smallest lead projectile commonly fired from a rifled barrel.

a .177 cal BB or pellet would probably break the skin at 300-400fps.

A smaller (needle or dart-like) projectile could penetrate at lower velocities, but that's a different thing.
