I enlisted into the Navy March 6th and I leave for RTC on April 4th. I signed for the Seaman aprenticeship program and SWCC challenge. I'm so stoked I can hardlly wait, but I was wondering if there was anyway that I could keep up my level of training at RTC. Right now I run 2 miles a day, alot of push-ups and sit-ups, and when I go swimming I swim 500 meters non-stop the same pace I would when I try to qualify and then another 450 meters doing various exersices that Petty Officer Kinetz(He is a SWCC/riverine) tells me to do. Also, I know its a little late in the game, but is that enough to get me to the minimum I need to be at to make it? by the way my name is Joe

Joe,

You seem to be on target to do what you need to do. When you get in RTC the SWCC and BUD/S guys get separated off for PTsessions where you will have SEALs SWCC and Divers PTing you above and beyond what most will be getting in RTC.

If you are in contact with Petty Office Kinetz, make sure you are locked in on combat side stroke, buddy tows and running in the sand. Those are technique things you will have to learn that can't really be picked up very well unless you have someone show you. See if he can help you out with those.

Good luck Joe. Keep in touch on these forums and continue to give people here updates on how you are doing.

Hey Joe,
I just left Great lakes. i went through boot camp at RTC then 'A" School at TSC. i am about to class up with the april BCT class.

in boot camp you will have the opportunity to PT from 0630 to 0730 at the combat pool. all special programs will be there PT-ing. other than that the regular navy PT is a joke. I got out of shape in boot camp, but you will have to find different ways of doing pushups and stuff in the barracks at night after taps.(dont get caught) you will not always have the opportunity to go to PT in the morning.

when you get to "A" school, you will have more FREE time, but your days are much longer. the main thing is to stay motivated. you will be busy all day. but dont lose sight of your goals. once 'A' school is over, you will have a great opportunity to get in to the best shape of your life depending on how much time you have between 'A' school and BCT.

Good luck, stay MOTIVATED. do what you can when you can.

God Bless,
Businda

Hey Businda,

I am headed over to the school house tomorrow to talk to the staff, would you like me to put in a good word for you? Perhaps I can ask them to give you a little "extra" attention? =)

Congratulations on getting through RTC. Buckle down and get this out of the way. Thanks for hopping on here and sharing your knowledge. There is nothing that beats firsthand knowledge and you guys are helping out the next group going through. Besides, old guys like me forget about some of the little things. Thats why I'm headed to the schoolhouse. I want to get some firsthand info about what is going on over there.

If you guys have any questions you want to throw their way that I may not be able to answer, I will ask anonymously if you would like. I'll be hopping on tomorrow before I head over, so throw your questions out there and I will try my best to get them answered.
