I am looking to sign the SWCC contract and think that I have a good idea of what I am getting into, but I do have one question. I visted the website http://www.seal.navy.mil/swcc/abo_assignments.asp and it talks about the "Dream Sheet" and says that you basically get to pick where you want to go unless the navy's needs are different. Having said that my question is that if you pick a SBT that specializes in riverine warfare, can you later switch to another SBT that specializes in another type of naval warfare later on in your enlistment???
I would appreciate any of your comments.

The Navy encourages you to go to many different commands throughout your career. A dream sheet does not lock you into one location only. You will probably end up moving every three years or so. When your tour of duty is up (usually 3 years) you negotiate with a detailer about where you are going to go next. Some options besides the three main boat units are:
1. Go to the schoolhouse and train new SWCC guys.
2. Work a a joint command as a SPECWAR expert
3. Work at an FOB(Foreward Operating Base), coordinating with whatever SPECWAR units are in your AOR (Area of Responsibility)
Don't worry, you won't get locked into a single place.
And to those of you who are hating either where you are right now, or someone you are working with, I have a little mantra I say...
"Within the next 3 years either one of us is going away..."
Some people really harp on the fact that the military moves around alot. In some cases it is a good thing. Not only in negative cases like this, but you get to see alot of the world.
One more suggestion, housing in San Diego is expensive, but the beaches and the women there are incredible! Housing in Virginia Beach is reasonable, but you should definitely bring your own girl with you.
So, my suggestion, find a girl in San Diego while you are stationed there and transfer to Virginia Beach when you settle down.
If you never want to settle down, and have a thing for South American girls, head to SBT-22.
I hope that helps.
