how long does it take to become a navy seal?

Please let this be the last time this question is asked....Here is the extremely quick "corner-cutting" answer (takes a little longer if you do 18-D (for medics) or need SDV school as well:

BUD/S is 6 months long,

Then Jump School is 4 weeks long,

Then you do approx. 6-8 months of STT/SQT

then you are a SEAL

I may be wrong but i just read a great book about SEAL training called the Warrior Elite, and in that book and in many places on the internet the training path goes like this:

1. BUD/S - 6 months
2. Army Jump School - 3 weeks
3. STT school - 3 weeks
4. Probationary Training period - 6 months
5. now you're a seal

Doug just said it's 6-8 months of STT, SQT.... He is a SEAL and his information is accurate.
