I just found out Monday (February 13th) morning that I am getting rolled up to leave on the following Friday. It came as a huge shock and I was very very excited. I was sleeping when I got the call, heh. But, as it turns out, no one ships on Fridays!!! My recruiter screwed up, so I will be leaving on Thursday. I was rather close to throwing up when I heard that. I still am... This whole scenario just came to fast. It's hard to tell your girlfriend "Happy Valentine's day baby! By the way, I'm leaving for the navy for 8+ months, but hey maybe I'll see ya again!"

I leave wednesday night to stay in a hotel in Nashville. I'm lucky because I only live 30 minutes from nashville so at least I am used to the territory. The following morning I have to wake up at 5:00 to eat breakfast and catch the shuttle bus up to MEPS. At MEPS they will check my weight and height to see how much I've changed since the last time I was there when I joined the navy. I will also be drug tested, DON'T DO DRUGS. They not only take a piss test but a blood sample which will catch anything you have done for a few months back.

Also, in order for me to leave earlier they started a new system for SEAL/SWCC guys. In a nutshell they took my source rate (EN) and made me an (SN, Seamen). They found that when we leave boot camp for 'A' School we tend to get lazy. Also that after learning our job we also tend to forget what we learned because of the extensive SEAL/SWCC training. So after SWCC training I will be given a new source rating but hopefully by the time I am done SWCC will be its own rate. I will be one of the first people to try this out... fun fun...

Well that is how my journey starts. I'll be sure to update whenever I can.
Kinnikinik told me I won't get much computer time in Boot so don't expect much for 2 months but i'll do my best to update once and tell you about the extra things I have to do in boot for the SWCC challenge.

much love,
-steven
