When you do the PST the first time at Boot Camp, do you have to do the CSS? What if you dont know how to do it?
Do they teach you how to do it then make you take the PST?

Breatstroke and/or sidestroke is acceptable for the PST.

You don't have to do the combat side stroke, you can do regular. CSS is faster. You can go to a stroke development course like two times I think before you screen in if you want. The won't teach you the CSS but just the regular side stroke.

I suggest buying Stew Smith's book. It has pictures of each step of the stroke and a dvd of proper form. You really need to learn the CCS it will make your life much easier at bud/s.

they're different, while being the same. CSS, you go underwater while stroking, head above water while recovery.

Can you do freestyle for the PST? It is the fastest stroke after all...while it may be more tiring.

No, only the sidestroke or breaststroke.

Bummer, if it was freestyle I could do it in 5 minutes :) (best 500 yard time)

Guess I'll start using breast more until I can figure out the sidestroke.
