Sniper is generally not one of the skill sets associated with SWCC. The problem is that sniping relies on a stable platform and, well you aren't going to get that on the boat. We do get advanced firearms training, and have been know to go to civilian agencies such as Blackwater or high level tactical shooting schools by the DOE. One of my old instructors from SWCC school currently works for them doing the shooting schools.

Since SWCC is a part of Special Warfare, if you can justify the mission, you can go to the school. We have had guys go to Ranger training, SCARs, and all sorts of advanced SERE courses. We even send people to civilian boating schools to learn how to drive boats other than the SWCC boats. Basically the idea is that if we need to move a 100+ton ship that we have captured from point A to point B, it would be nice to have a SWCC guy jump onboard and know how to drive say a cruise ship or a tanker.

I think sniper school is a stretch for SWCC, but again, if you have the time and you can justify it, you can go.

One more thing, if you get in a position to go to a school, ensure that you offer the opportunity to everyone around you. Everyone loves cool training (Combat Sea Kayaking anyone?).
