During second phase, are there any type of evolutions that require you to float?
This may seem like a stupid question, but I have almost no body fat, and I have a terrible time floating. If so, does anyone have any advice on floating?
P.S. I'm talking about floating with just your body, not inflating your pants as a floating device.

I wrestled in High school and got my body fat so low i got sick. I'm not a SEAL, but i know that you do have to tread water for long periods of time, which seemed harder for me when i was super low body fat. What i figured out though, and from seeing some pics of SEALs, is that they are in shape, but not totally ripped. during BUD/s hell week u eat 5-7000 calories a day and still lose weight! Ur body eats ur fat for energy, then moves to muscle, which includes ur heart! so if u have no fat, ur gonna have an even Harder time. just keep ur diet high in UNsaturated fats, like canola oil has. U should be fine. Hope it helps. God bless.

cfog,
I have the same problem as you, i can't float for **** . Im taking a swimming class right now though, and the instructor said pretty much everyone can float, we all just float differently, meaning you have to make adjustments to your body in order to float, such as hand position or leg position. People low in body fat dont float perfectly horizontal. Basically, if you can float on your stomach , then you can float on your back. She's been teaching 30 years, and has only encountered one person with negative buoancy. Im sure Don Walsh could probably help you out more if you post this in the swimming forum. As for BUD/S, I'm not sure if you have to float or not.

There is a part of the evolution during drown proofing where your hands and feet are tied together and you have to do a prone float type thing where you put your chin to your chest and hold the air in your stomache to help you float easier. It's a combination of floating and doing a couple light kicks every so often to keep control of your position, it's not to hard with practice.
