I just wanted to pass this along and hopefully get some advice on whether it will help me. I have had trouble with shin splints for a while and i just found a set of strengthening exercises for the lower leg and ankle muscles (http://www.sportsinjurybulletin.com/archive/0161-shin-splints-treatment.htm). It's too early to tell if they've worked yet...but I'd love to hear from a good runner out there. Are these good exercises? Is there maybe anything else I should do to supplement them? Thanks...

I know if you form shin splints ( the muscle tearing away from the bone) you can relieve it by using marbles. Simply you put marbles inbetween your toes and rotate them back and forth. Its supposed to help, so my coach says, but I've never actually needed to use this method.

I used to hate running, but I just read this book called Chi Running and it works, I can run up to 9 miles with out getting hurt. It is kind of hard to explain but basically you use gravity to move yourself along instead using just your legs do most of the work.

Penguin walk. Walk around on your heels only. Do thius in 30 second intervals at first and work up. It works your shin muscles well without adding stress from high impact. Also running in soft sand eliminates the hard impact and works your shins.

morris thats crazy, i picked that book up a few months ago and have just started reading it. it sounds like some good stuff with simple, yet practical reasoning behind it. didnt think it was that popular of a book though.
