What Total Immersion did for swimming, this does for running

My friend who was running 26min 3 mile and that was putting out. He had a football player's running form and everything else wrong. Well he read this book and went by it. Within a few months he was down to 19min 3miles. It focuses on injury free, and increase energy effciency be leaning and using gravity to pull you while running. Great on becoming better with distance and wanting to run faster. I read and recommend it myself.

Does anybody have a first hand experience with the style? I trust you and your friend, I'm just curious about the article on the webpage. Thank you.

I got the book and video. It didn't completely change my times, but I do think about what I am doing when I am running (whereas before I just went out and ran). I've been using it for about 5 weeks.

I went and picked up a copy of the book this morning, I've read through the first few chapters and will start to put it to use next week probably. See what happens.

Good luck! Also, I stopped running with music to help with my breathing. That seems to also help.

I just picked mine up from the local Barnes and Noble. Could've got it cheaper from Amazon.com, but oh well. The first like 5 chapaters dont really go into form or anything too much, they just kind of explain the principle of ChiRunning. I lightly looked at the form stuff, and it seems to work, but I havent used it too much yet, I'm going to read straight through the book once, and I dont want to develop any bad habits with it. I'll keep you posted though.

It works to a degree; it helps out with endurance and a little bit with run times, but it requires perfect form in order for it to work. It is a great book though because it changed the way I look at running.

glad you guys are checking the book. Out. Sorry if I made it sound like it's the cure'all for running for everyone. But it's one of the best things I've seen that puts good running form and practice in words. It gives you things (refered to as focuses) to concentrate on while you run. Some people like the style, some don't. But for the task of trainnig for BUD/S, putting on distance, and becoming comfortable to for running that much, I think it is a good asset.
