Hey myname is Wes,
Im 15 right now but i have wanted to be a seal since I was 13. last year I realized that I was quite possibly the weakest kid in my grade{I was wrong}. Anyway, I decided that a good way to grow muscle mass and become more physically fit. was to joined the JV football team. Needless to say I sucked and I spent most of the time off in the corner of the field getting cooked alive in the 100 degree heat. Of niceville, florida
Anyway I don't weigh very much, about 125 lbs, and the majority of my weight is on my legs. I know that running will make me stronger, but if there is not much weight for my legs to carry, will i build muscle? And would doing ruck runs and ruck humps be better instead of running?

by the way does anyone know how bad -1.75 and -1.50 is? will i be able to get the SCC

Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought they put eyesight on a 20/20, 20/15, etc. type of scale.

You're not wrong, but neither is devgru6. Eyesight can be expressed either way. Devgru6's method is the actual prescription that would be written by an eye doctor to be used in making glasses/contacts. I have no idea how to correlate the two methods, but I'm guessing his eyesight is worse than the allowable 20/70 (or whatever the correct figures are -- don't quote me! 8^)

That measures visual acuity. The -150 etc is the dioptric power need to correct visual acuity.

I was almost the same build when I was in highschool that age. I'm 22 now and only wieghing around 145 on my good days. I never did football but I wrestled and ran xc. If you are already a good runner then stick to football and get bigger. Else you might wana do a year on the xc team too. Not to mention while you are starting early get on the swim team. Build your foundation now on these things.

In that case, my vision is 20/600 in both eyes. Any chance for a waiver? Hahaha!

My third eye is about to grow because of the radiation from the monitor.

Am I serious about my vision? Yes. I'm blind as a bat! Thank God for contacts. Am I serious about the waiver? No. But that's the only thing keeping me from being a SEAL, uh, yeah that's it..........

All i know is that im 16 and an doing my best to get into the teams. My suggestion for you is to continure with the running and the football and perhaps look into getting involved in soccor or basketball. Maybe try hitting the weights to.

Hi Wes:

Yes, you will build muscle in your legs by running. However, you will build more muscle in your legs through lifting. I'd suggest a well-rounded strength program at your age, in addition to cardio work (running, swimming, etc). Building a base will help to prevent injuries in the future. It's not all about strength. It's about endurance, flexibility, agility AND strength. Checkout www.crossfit.com. They offer some great workouts. Good luck!

PS: You might want to re-think your name. It's a name that should only be used when earned.
