how does the runnning go for general active duty deployment or training? Do you guys gennerally run every day while on deployment or just active duty? if so how is the mileage/intensity? would it be anything to compare to high school xc/track?

First, you need to figure out what the hell you are saying.
If a person is overseas on a deployment, then they are going to be on active duty.
...and be it at home, or on deployment, some people run everyday and some people hate running with a passion and do it is little as they can get away with. So the mileage you would run as a member of a high school XC team is probably towards the upper end depending on how serious of a team you are on.

What that guy said didn't really give you much of an answer, probably cause he has no idea what it's like in the fleet, but I'll help you out. When on active duty on a daily basis your going to go to a job just like any other job. When on deployment you'll have less time to work out and things like that so running may be a little less. For instance, my squadron PT's three times a week, we run or do circuit training, or something like that. It's not enough to keep you in shape, but it's a good warm up every now and then. You'll be do doing a lot more running on our own if your preparing for BUD/s while in the navy. On deployment there are gyms on the ships with treadmills, that's where you'd do your running if you were on a ship. Hope that clears up your question.

Every Active Duty personnel in the Navy Has this thing called PRT,PRT is a physical test which includes running, curl up push up, sit and reach. Sailors have the option to run or not to run on their time, unless in Mando status. bottom line, pass the test.....

while on deployment, they usually have agym in the ship...

hope that answers your question.

Thats why i said "while on deployment or just active duty", meaning either on active duty deployment,.... or just active....as in being an active duty SEAL but not on any kind of deployment, like home on leave, or stateside. Just cause your not on a deployment dosent mean that your in the reserves, does it? But thanks for your answer, it pretty much gave me what i want.

Question, why when i click on peoples profiles does a blank pop-up come up without any profile in it?

The forums are 'bugged' out right now. For instance, sometimes your post won't appear immediately. Hopefully they will clear that up soon, because I like to know who I am talking to.

When you experience a problem, please report it to one of the moderators (cadre2@navyseals, cadre1@navyseals.com, mark@navyseals.com). It will get fixed a lot faster that way. Thanks.

I have another question pertaining to the topic. When teams run for training (not BUD/S), is it more endurance running, long distance, building up light muscle fibers; or more speed workouts, like ex. 5x600m, building up dark fast-twitch muscle fibers? And then, when training personally for BUD/S, what would be best as far as running goes? If I had to take a guess i would say distance, as we only run long distance, high mileage over the summer for a good base coming into the fall XC season. I was lucky enough to print up the BUD/S prep workout on this site when it was free, before they made you purchase it, i'll have to dig it up when i get home.

For the most part it is just distance running... if you can call a mile and a half disstance running. You will do some push ups, some situps, and then you may run a bit. Definitely not all you need to keep in shape. There are a few desk jockeys out there that get thier butts kicked gettting into their cars, so they have to balance the workouts towards that end of the spectrum. If you are on the "headed to BUD/S" end of the spectrum you are going to need to seek out your own workout program beyond what the Navy gives you.

by "what the Navy gives you" you didn't mean the BUD/S prep workout featured on this site, did you? As far as I know that one seemed pretty sufficent, at least to me. Thanks
