Okay, here's a question the real deals can answer for me (and others) ~
Prior to BUD/S, there is great emphasis placed on running as a way of getting in shape. During BUD/S, everyone runs everywhere. Yet, should the individual succeed and gain a place on a Team, the successful op is gauged by achieving the mission objective and extracting without being even noticed. It's all about creeping as silently as possible (aka moving stealthily). So why all the running which, seems to me, causes lower limb injuries, medical roll backs, and ultimately a huge potential for disappointment in one's life ambition.
Yes, to get in shape and keep in shape. Yes, if the mission is compromised and a quick getaway is needed. It just seems to me there is a strong emphasis at the start on running .. and I'd like to know why.
