Hello, I have a friend(no its not me) who currently claims he wants to be a US NAVY SEAL. There is a problem however. He is 18 years old, 6', 195lbs, and is not in great shape. He can barely do one pullup, can do abut 20 pushups, and has trouble running a mile at an 8 minute pace, let alone 3 or 5 miles. He has a book on how to train for the Navy SEALs and he is trying to follow it but he is already of week three and still no improvement. He also claims he knows CQB from Navy SEAL video tapes he bought online. He walks around with a baton thinking he can beat up everyone. He also calls everyone else "Civilians" and thinks he is above them. He even walks around in the woods thinking he has a gun and is on some secret mission. He claims he will be able to make it. Personally I think this is messed up. This is a disgrace to the real SEALs who have made many sacrificies. What do you think his chances are of making it to the SEAL teams? Do you think he even has a chance? It seems like he is just hooked on video games like counter strike and halo and has no real life. I'm looking for some real opinion on this subject. Please help.
Thank You Very Much

Let me say first that I am NOT a SEAL.
What do you think his chances are of making it to the SEAL teams?
Here's the answer to your question:
He can barely do one pullup, can do abut 20 pushups, and has trouble running a mile at an 8 minute pace, let alone 3 or 5 miles.
He also claims he knows CQB from Navy SEAL video tapes he bought online.
Tell your friend that "instructional" videos aren't meant to prepare you for any CQB. He can watch it a thousand times but will never be able to properly execute any of the tactics and maneuvers without proper guidance.
He walks around with a baton thinking he can beat up everyone. He also calls everyone else "Civilians" and thinks he is above them.
First of all, tell him to get rid of that baton before the police do something about it. Secondly, remind him over and over that he, too, is a "civilian". Warn your friend, thinking you can beat everyone up because you're a SEAL fanatic can get you hurt. Maybe even killed.
It seems like he is just hooked on video games like counter strike and halo and has no real life.

Do your friend a favor and advise him to seek psychological help. It may sound a little extreme, but with the kind of people doing crazy things out there nowadays, you can never be too careful. Secondly, remember to advise him, not order him. You say he's your friend, so be a friend and try to guide him into doing the right thing and getting his mind into the correct state. Who knows what he may be able to accomplish. For now, you should just keep him from hurting others and hurting himself. Peace out.

LMAO.
By any chance, does your friend eat paint chips, live under powerlines, was he dropped as a baby, didn't receive proper parental guidance, does he kill animals for fun, or perhaps is he a loner???? Clinically, one might call your friend F**CKING NUTS!!

You can give your friend a suggestion - knock off the goofy stuff and start trying to prepare for BUD/S physically. If he really wants it he needs to step back and look at the entire picture and dedicate himself to improving where he needs to improve. He just needs to get his priorities straightened out and if he does thia, he MAY have a chance.....

Your friend is a loon..... I think he is living in more of a fantasy and dream than anything.. I am not trying to cast assumptions here, but going around thinking that you can beat anyone up is not a good thing. It shows he has lack of respect and will disrespect his superiors,,,, As goes for the part about him calling everyone civilians it shows he definalty has a brain knot of some sort... He has no earnings or rights to even consider himself in the service, much less a SEAL.. For the video game part it makes me think that he is lost more in his own little world. I play video games myself sometimes, but I am nowhere near hooked. This all adds up to be on the verge of a highly obssesed wanna be. I am not saying he cannot make it,but first he needs to get the "he can beat up anyone crap out of his head" Trust me it will only get him a good old fashioned *** kicking one day. (which it may take that to untie that knot in his head) I am not trying to down your friend or make him seem out to be a bad guy. I know since he is your friend you can help him out anyway you can. Good luck to you and your friend.
