I just ran for the first time in my Bates today. I did 1.5 miles around my school track (just getting over bronchitis, so chest still hurts alittle). Its some tough **** , when I ran it felt unnatural and a bit clunky. Also when I was walking from my locker room to the track in the boots it was like I had to relearn to walk. Since I have this problem its better now than 2 years down the road when i'm at BUD/S and it matters. Just wondering if anyone else had this problem and what they did to fix it. I plan on starting 12 weeks to BUD/S next week so i'm trying to break these in.

Ok, here’s what I did. I got my Bates last week and since then they have become my new shoes, meaning I do everything in them, doing that should get you use to the feel of being in them. As for the running part I would suggest to take shorter strides and increase your pace (keep in mind that I'm not a trainer or on my schools cross country team I can just tell you what I've done). If you keep at it and run often then you should be fine, good luck.

Thanks for the advice! My vans are a bit worn out anyway, could use a new pair of shoes!
