I think that is the world record for the longest sentence! Congradulations!

In answer to your question, I believe the best diet for loosing weight is a low-calorie diet. Basically, decrease the calorie intake and increase the level of physical activity. Always consult with a doctor before starting an unfamiliar diet, make sure you do that first. Cut down to NO fast food. I would definately say little to no unatural foods. NO junk food. That is if he really wants to loose 60 pounds. There are plenty healthy snacks you can make that still taste good and that are all-natural. I would not do too much power lifting. Because of his extra fat and weight, he will bulk up and add even more weight if he does alot of heavy lifting.

There is a diet on this site alon with the Warning Order, which he should probably try to do along with his other workouts, heres the link: http://www.navyseals.com/community/navyseals/navysealworkout_main.cfm

Plyometrics and ab exercises work like a charm for buring fat. I would recommend some of Matt Furey's ab exercises and plyometric workouts. Jogging is also by far one of the best exercises for burning calories.

If I was in his shoes this is what I would do,

First of all, I would consult with my doctor to see if it is safe to start a low calorie diet and increase exercise. I would then buy a low-calorie diet book of some sort. I would do the BUD/S Warning Order as it follows. You might have to change things the first couple of weeks to make it doable for him. On Tuesday and thursday I would do plyometric workouts. You can go to a gym and hire a trainer, or get a big ensemble of plyo workouts and just do them. I would do ab exercises every day. I myself do Matt Furey's Combat Abs (It really works, I have a 6 pack and punch proof abs! Just like he guarantees) Weightlifting is not needed to lose weight. He will gain plenty of strenght doing the Warning Order and Plyometrics. If he still has time to lift, then do high repetition workouts, they will burn fat. Short reps with heavy weight will just add more weight. That would be my workout plan if I was in his shoes. Good luck to your little bro,

Charles

A balanced diet is needed. It may take longer than what your brother wants, but if he wants it bad enough time has no meaning. He needs a lean diet. Balance the protein/carbs/fats. A ratio of 60% protein, 20 percent complex carbs, and 20% essential fats would help. He needs anywhere from a gram to a gram and a quater per body pound to build and maintain muscle mass. Think lean meats. Grilled chicken, tuna, things along that line. Stay away from refinded sugars and fried foods. They no longer exist! His carbs, which will give him energy. should come from complex carbs, such as whole grains and whole wheat. For a long sustained energy burn. Your body needs a curtain amount of fat to function properly. Focus on good fats and stay away from saturated fats. With the proper diet and proper exercise program he will achieve his goal. It is a life style change. If he wants it, he can achieve it! Tell him to pick up some reading material. Knowledge is key to fitness. Knowing how your body works and what it needs to function properly. I would suggest he look into mags such as Natural Bodybuilding. If ya want to know how to cut fat and build muscle. You go to the guys that know and that care about doing it the right way. A proper multi-vitamin is very important. As well as water intake. there is far to much to cover on this forum. READ..and apply the knowledge he can gain to his life. Discipline and modivation are the key.

FM--

if you're looking for a workout that will burn fat fast, try the cardio on the warning order. it's also going to make your brother hungry, so like burner said, diet is CRUCIAL.

the thing about burning fat is that you can't really spot train until you're lean all over. stay away from soda and juices. if your brother can stomach it, switch to brown rice and whole wheat bread. {brown rice has a different texture... some like it, some don't.}

burner-- where's our last nutrition thread? we should post him a link to that.
