Hey everyone, I haven't seen many posts on Beach-Runs. I just thought I would put this out to you guys, since you're going to do a lot of running on the beach at BUDS. You might want to start now. And I don't mean running down by the shore-line where the sand is hard packed. I'm talking about running in the soft sand up on the beach for a couple miles! It's not easy, but you'll be better prepared to handle it when you get to BUDS if you start now. Yup, Beach-Runs and a ton of abdominal exercises! Thats my two cents!!!
P.S.: Just watch your footing, it sucks when you roll your ankle in the sand! I've done it a few times and it makes me want to scream every time!

Anthony, what's up with your writing skills dude, I don't remember them being that bad.
Anyway, I think he means that you need to build up your core muscles, it helps to have a strong core on long beach runs, and you'll do a crazy amount of ab workouts during pt sessions, so show up to BUD/S with strong abs.

The technique for running soft sand is different from running on a harder surface. Make your contact with the surface more flat footed , shorten your stride and increase your pace to maintain your time. The sand is going to fatigue your legs alot more than a harder surface. So work on pushing up the endurance levels in your legs. There is no such thing as being over prepared.
What do you mean be a ton of ab exerises and which ones?
Abs are the central part of all movement. Having strong abs is important for performance and the stabillity of your entire body. Having strong abs will also help decrease your risk of strain and injury in your back as well as other parts of your body. Sit ups, leg raises and flutter kicks are great for abs. When I'm training my abs I add 10 pound ankle weights for my leg raises and flutter kicks. Keep it slow and controled. Momentum is not your friend when your training. Slowing it down increases the intensity of the movement. Focus on the muscle your working. Isolate and maintain proper form. If you cheat the form. Your only cheating yourself and it will eventually catch up to you. good luck to you. Don't forget to maintain a proper diet for your body type and performance level.

What do you mean by this? Do you mean shorten your stride, but move your legs faster than usual?

Your, wrong about the fatigue. Because the sand absorbs more shock than asfalt/colbalt....
What does absorbing shock have to do with fatigue of muscle. You are a idiot and I hope everyone here knows not to listen to your BS. You don't have a clue what your talking about.
Since atoms don't actually connect,
I can tell you this. some of your atoms don't connect!

HAHA mk8 you’re an idiot, the muscle fatigue doesn’t come from placing your foot down as much as pulling it out!!! this has nothing to do with your BS atom theory, when u run in SOFT SAND your feet sink and your caphs begin to burn because of the extra work to pull them out, im not saying u sink into the sand like its quick sand, but after a long period of time your caphs and other leg muscle begin to fatigue due to the extra stress.
HAHA WOW ok ill just ignore this kid for now, and im sure your a weak lil nerd haha that cant do more than three pull ups because all u do is sit on the computer all day HAAHA
anywase so Gregzilla89 you live in Alamitos NICE ive surfed near there a few times do u surf, oo and have u ever herd of skiming, funnn stuffff alright I don’t wanna waste anyone’s time besides mk8s haha
THNX GUYS………………….
(P.S. sorry about the spelling. )
providing greater safety
for the lower extremities.
However, because of the "sinking" in the sand, the pronation of the foot is increased thereby increasing what many refer to as shin splints. Talk to a podiatrist, Dude.

. a lot of people are leaving who give good advice, and all "some" people come here to do is argue or tell someone they are wrong. something needs to be done. thanks Mark.
Kenny, you posted this one hour after you posted what i quoted in this topic. you just told MK82 he was wrong, then went out of your way to call snow his sister and tell him he needs to get kicked off. How are you ANY different than any of the other retards that constantly fight with him and others? It's been posted about a million times that they need to be kicked off, if they wanted to then they would, i'm sure they can see what people are posting so if they want someone to be banned then they will. If you have a personal opinion then you should send a personal email to the person it concerns, such as removing someone, that's what will keep the forum clean, NOT creating a topic about banning mk82 every 5 min.

I think its time to get back on subject, personally I don’t have a clue what mk8 is talking about I think he’s just trying to sound intelligent and likes to hear himself talk or somthin but besides mk8 I think we should have a vote, who thinks that soft sand runs are harder than a normal run on concrete out doors?

Yah, I've got some buddies that go skimming, it's always looked like fun. Dang. I've gotta learn to surf. Probably next summer. Haha. Well take it easy Striker.
-Greg
Oh, and soft sand runs are definately harder than concrete and sidewalk runs. Your feet sink in the sand and when you hit that soft spot, your foot kinda rolls... Lots o' fun.

You think that the Navy SEAL are sitting at their computers right now with their families going "Thank goodness that Kenny FINALLY was brave enough to come out and teach those guys a lesson and let the moderators know how to do their job. I think this will solve the problem and tomorrow there will be all new moderators and mk82 and snow will be gone and we'll all live happily ever after!" Negative shipmate, that's not going to happen. You should learn to adapt and overcome. mk82 and snow thrive off the post you leave, they sit at home waiting for you guys to respond, it's what gives them their "power" on the forums. I swear i've read more post about mk82 than i've learned about the SEALs and training. Then you guys sit at home worrying about what the SEALs are going to think so you all try and show your detication to navyseals.com by stating the obvious. We're calling the sky blue by saying MK82 needs to be banned, so lets not beat a dead horse and move on with our lives. I'm sure the moderators and SEALs would MUCH rather you ignore any post, no matter who it's by that is irrelivant to the forum topic and just give your valid opinion on the subject matter. When this happens the forum will return to normal. No one needs to be banned for this to happen. What if when someone post something you don't like you just go right past it and reference the post before it instead of feeling the need to point out that it doesn't make sense and it's stupid. Maybe that's why they haven't banned anyone, because they shouldn't have to if the forum community would be mature enough to stay on subject and talk about what they came here for. I was going to send this to you in your hotmail account, but i thought it would be good for everyone to read. Now, lets start leading by example and do what we came here to do. If you wanna say anything negative, please do, but don't put it on the forum, email the person direct, my email is in my profile. Don't worry, my feelings won't be hurt if you have a valid point.

Actually, Kenny -- Stephen is right; if we just ignore MK and Pvt. Snowball completely, they'l eventually end up talking to themselves ... let's get back to "military items" we men enjoy; shall we?

Dude you don't know, any SEALs do you????
Think about language in general and you'll figure it out.
Check your email.
But you missed, a vital molecule! Stretching and proper body atitude overcome
the pronation.... Since the looser the front, of the ankle is the less stress is done
on the shin... Then you deal with lateral displacement which is another subject altogether....
Just some input, from experience...

MK, your an idiot and you don't have a clue what your talking about. You post information that is not only wrong, but may get some unknowing kid hurt. They should take you out back and wack you in the head with a boat paddle. Mark needs to ban you before you post some stupid $hit that gets someone hurt. Either way, when I see bullsh*t I'm going say something so nobody steps in it! I can't believe you were the strongest sperm up your momma's pipe. Well, that was alot of info. I spead read most of it. I guess Mk and Snow are in fact dumb. Anyway back to the Sand Issue. Yes it is very hard to run in sand. A mile in the sand might as well be 3 on the street. I went to Aircrew Candidate School and through the whole AW pipeline. we ran in the sand daily sometimes twice a day for 2 miles which felt like 5 or 6. It feels like somone is pulling your legs down. It is tough but possible. I'm not saying I'm "the man" in this post just adding my 2 cents.

shorten your stride and increase your pace to maintain your time.
[/QUOTED]
Shortening your stride will give you a faster foot turnover....
Not, in the sand though, there is a lag time.
Meaning sink time...
