After your completion at BUD/S i hear that one is combat efficient. During your stay at the teams i was informed that their are extra schools one attends. Aside from airborne and diving, etc. Some of them were SAFTA and Force Recon schools and Sniper school. Do all SEALs go to these schools, or is it on an individual basis? Thanks

Matt,
Just ignore the ignorant comments of some people. To answer your question - no, not all SEALs go to all the possible schools available as there are many possibilities. If the needs of the Team call for you to go to sniper school and you seem to be the best candidate available, you will get the school, but it is on a schedule to fit the needs of the Team and they try to fit you in a school if you really want it bad enough.....hope this explains it........

If he doesn't delete that post in 24 hours why don't one of us report him to Mark? Not trying to sound like a tattle tell or a rat,but that's just really, really uncalled for. If he doesn't delete the post I am sure Mark would be glad to banned him.

It's difficult or impossible to get credible information regarding SEALs and so-called hand-to-hand combat "systems".
Interesting controversy about SAFTA, from SCARS website:
http://www.scars.com/images/Navy_response.jpg
"Naval Special Warfare Command (NSWC) has not used or endorsed the SAFTA training program designed by BMCS Lew Hicks (Ret.) at any time as an official training program within Naval Special Warfare"...
http://www.scars.com/wannabes_faq.html
http://www.scars.com/safta_proof.html
Of course, that is only according to the SCARS institute, while they fail to address on their website alleged critiques of their own system brought on by the Dieter CQD system.
I'm skeptical of the credibility of websites mentioning SAFTA or SCARS:
http://www.specialoperations.com/Navy/SEALs/Platoon.htm
If it's a regional thing, with some SEAL teams trained in Dieter CQD and others not, the story is more complicated.
I paid $80 for the SAFTA video a few years ago, back when I wasn't thinking.

WHAT!? Is that just one tape or like a box set? If that's how much one tape cost that's crazy... Or maybe there just that expensive.. Just seems <b>very</b> steep in price..

Yep, I don't know who bought it, but it is just ONE tape. Lew Hicks is presumably a fraud and makes claims he cannot back up in his videos. Apparently, according to Jerry Peterson, all Hicks does is criticize SCARS and trashes it. That's the only way he can make money. I nearly bought a SAFTA tape until I heard about SCARS a few weeks ago. If you're shocked at the cost of SAFTA, you'll probably pass out at the price of any SCARS products. However, they are the only ones who can say (with backup) that they have trained the Naval Special Warfare Command. SAFTA was never used by the SEALs and is only a bad misrepresentation of SCARS. It turns out SEALs can be an acronym for a few other things, so when people say they have trained SEALs... it doesn't necessarily mean NavSpecWar. SCARS, as I have learned, is the real thing. SAFTA is not.
