A buddy of mine here at A school got his SWCC orders finally, but they are sending him to SERE first, before SWCC school. Just wondering if thats normal?

Depending on what the quotas are for SWCC, and how the classes are scheduled for SERE, that is what decides when you will go. The only requirement for SWCC is that you have gone through both SWCC school and SERE school. It does not say what order.
Its not normal, but it is not unheard of. My suggestion is to put on a little weight before you get there. SERE school is rough.

Concur 100%. That's where I found out what the word " hungry " really meant. It's also where I learned that if you ain't cheating, you ain't trying.
I still remember my first " dump " after the training cycle. Didn't know it was possible for a man to crap razor blades.

Yeah, that's not normal at all. But then again, that's Military Intelligence at it's finest...........
Which SERE school is your buddy going to? When's his start date?
