O.K., I know it's bad ju ju to talk about dropping out of BUD/S and to go for SWCC, but what about if you're not a quitter, but just aren't making the graded evolutions? If you're just under par for being a SEAL, can you be recommended to goto SWCC?
My thinking is: If I can't be the tip of the spear, I'd still like to be the staff.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Make it through Hell Week and you have some bargaining chips on your table.

I agree on making it through Hell Week. That will give you bargaining chips. As a general rule, Seals are not going to hand off their trash to SWCC. If you think the graded evolutions are any easier in SWCC, think again.
That being said, I appreciate you addressing your issues in an appropriate manner. There is no shame in asking questions, as a matter of fact it brings credit upon yourself. A major part of BUD/S and SWCC is realizing where your limitations are so that you know how to deal with them when they come up. If you make it through Hell Week, talk to your instructors about switching to SWCC.
If you do not, there are still options available to you that will keep you in the Special Warfare area. Mobile Comm Team sets up communications on land wherever the proverbial "****" is. Seabees are some hardcore builders who are usually at the forefront of the action. Don't mess with my Combat Seabees (Here's to you Ed!). We routinely deploy with 2-3 Seabees in a MKV det. Also, the Teams need PR's and admin people on a routine basis. If you do leave BUD/S and do so in a mature manner on good terms, there is no reason you shouldn't be able to get a reccommendation to do something you would enjoy.
Other things to think about:
PC's - small, tight crew. Currently very active patrolling the Northern Arabian gulf. You get much more responsibility and satisfaction than on a big boy.
Minesweepers- Same deal and you can get a Coxswain pin.
ACU teams. Amphibious assault, air cushioned units. LCACs are the fastest boats in the Navy's inventory (after they got rid of the HSB's that is)
HM- Corpsmen go out with Marines. Marines are like Seals with a little less common sense, fewer toys, and an uncanny love of bad haircuts and crappy situations. God I love my Marines! Gotta love the Seals with all those wonderful toys, but if you asked a Marine to take Baghdad with a pack of gum and a water pistol, the only thing he would ask is if he could have some water for the pistol.
Boarding teams- Get stuck on a big boy, get on a boarding team. You get great training and get out of most of the crappy evolutions.
So, there you go. Share this information with your buddies. and remember, non of this will happen if you leave on bad terms.

Thank you very much for that info, Kinnikinik.
I was aware of some of the options, but certainly not all.
I (like everyone, I'm sure) have no plans on failing, but it'd be foolish not to have back-up plans.
Thanks again.
