This is the first time i have ever posted on this site but i have found answers to many questions from it. My question that i have is, is it normal for me to get stomach cramps everytime i run. i cant think of one time that i have gone running without getting a cramp. i have tried eating several one and two hours before running, not eating for several hours before running same with water i try to drink a gallon a day.

any help would be greatly apprecciated

thanks

Well what usually helps with me is to not drink too much right before running. Usually my routine consists of drinking 1 or 2 glasses of water than taking a long stretch, and then go running. This is what I do because usually if you don't drink enough than you'll get cramps, or if you drink too much right before you may get cramps again. So try and experiment with this. I'm no expert though, it may work differently for different people.

dont worry i do suck it up i was just curious if it was normal or not. i did find a solution to my problem though. it was my breathing, i recently ordered the twleve weeks to buds workout by stew smith and i read the chapter on running. my problem was that i was taking fast short breaths instead of long deep breaths. i ran three miles today without getting a cramp despite the fact that i was dehydrated. thank you all for the replys though.

Make sure your getting 64 oz of water a day and your staying away from soda. Don't want to do too much of the DEW. Throw in a Gatorade every once and while as well. Hope your cramps go away. But if they don't you could always have a doctor prescribe you Bentyl! By the way dehydration isn't an ok thing man. Taking care of yourself will result in better performance and progress. dehydration will just result in diarrhea and IVs.

i got cramps when i first started running too. people told me it was because i had weak stomache and hip muscles, but i didnt think that could true because i was doing tons of situps and other ab workouts. well i kept running through them and eventually they went away. i think it was because i had weak OBLIQUES and hip muscles. try doing some 8-count bodybuilders and squats, lunges, and oblique crunches. or just run through it.

lol, you know the last post in this thread was over 2 years ago? But yeah, I had some "side aches" when I first started running to. **** goes away in a week or so.

just for the record for all who will now read this post since you guys brought it back up:

usually those cramps are from being out of shape and separately, not breathing correctly.
