Hey Guys, i have a question. I was at my local recuiter a couple days ago, and I was trying to ask him about a Recon Contract. he really didnt tell me all that much but he kept on pushing this Job as Presidential Support/Special Weapons security. From what he said , you get to use all kinds of hi tech weapons that the regular Marines dont get to use. You also get to work with the CIA, FBI. It sounded reall cool, but when I tried to find some Info on the web about that MOS, I couldnt find anything. Does anyone know what that MOS is and what its all about? Thanks for any help I would really appreciate it
You gotta be $hittin' me; how old are you and where in the hell have you been all of your life so far???
You're apparently not in the military to ask such a dumb-*** question like that ... there is no military MOS for Presidential Security.
Who in the f^ck did you talk to ... the "4H Club" Recruiter??? :D

Obviously I am not in the military if I am talking to a recruiter! Im not making this up. Im 22 years old and Im not some stupid a$$. I know there aint no MOS like that because I looked all over and didnt find it.. The paper he gave me says PEF/MOS UW , Description - Presidential Support/Special Weapons Security. I dont know what it is thats why i am asking! He said that youll get to guard Camp David, and possibly the white house. Im not trying to blow smoke up anyones a$$, Im trying to find out if the recuiter was blowing smoke up my a$$.
Sounds like the recruiter is blowing smoke up your anal orfice. Now, I've been out of the Corps for a looooonnng time but to the best of my recollection, the Marines who are on the Presidential Detail are among the most squared Marines in the Corps and are stationed at 8th and I.
Having never been invited to join that particular unit, I have no idea of the training they receive.
If you are going to join our Corps, the first thing you should worry about is making it through Boot. Believe me young man when I tell you it is not a easy thing to do and will take all the dedication you have.
tvlr.................
RyuKyuMan -- without you providing a profile that would have given me info that you're 22 and never been in the military, I apologize for replying so harshly at first.
Now, to answer you -- tvlr is correct; we're both "Old Salts" and have little or no knowledge of an assigned MOS for that assignment, although I'm sure there must be one.
However, I can tell you this ... after my first tour in Viet-Nam, I was rotated back to CONUS and placed at Eighth and I Headquarters for Presidential Guard Duty; hell, I had no idea what that was and it was an exciting "idea" at the time.
But, after spending hours and hours of "spit-n-polish" along with close-order drill 7 days a week, I determined after 3 weeks, it wasn't for me ... hell; I was a "Combat-seasoned Marine" and didn't want to spend my time polishing boots; shoes; and covers!
Besides, it pissed me off when the V.P. would "inspect" the troops at 0600 hours for maybe 30 seconds, while still in his bathrobe, and he gave us a half-*** salute before going back inside.
I requested, after my first 3 weeks, that the C.O. re-assign me back to Viet-Nam as I just didn't "fit in" anywhere at that time ... 72 hours later, my *** was hauling my gear back to the "bush".
One thing about it -- tvlr is correct -- to be assigned as a Presidential Guard, you have to be a "Grade AAA" squared away Marine ... however, for you to get some background information on "Camp David Security", you can read up on it at this site ...

Good luck to you!

I can't say whether there is an specific MOS for presidential security support in the Marines or even for certain that the Marines are involved. But I have known of SEALS and other groups being used in security operations. Such as Maritime security and the like. There are many roles and several different rings of security. From analyist, access control, perimiter security, tactical response and close protection. Secret service oversees and handles close protection and use many different groups for support. but like I said. I don't know that there is a paticular MOS for presidential security. I've never heard of it. From what I've seen they pull individual operators for specific details based on the needs of that specific security detail. I know thats not much help, but it the best I can do...sorry, bud

To the best of my memory, that would fall under security forces. And Yes, I belive it is Presindential security forces. You get screened at SOI, big time background check. As for high tech weapons, your recruiter is PROBABLY full of it. I think he is talking about the gaurds that man the halls, helo, plane, and of course Camp David. Most of your duties will be standing around looking sharp and looking good.....lots of work on your uniform...Its a decorum post to the best of my knowledge.. I was offered it but I could not make the higher standard in my Background check...my mother used to be a Hungarian national.
As for the high tech...have no idea what that is about....BTW my info is 12years old.
(I dont think this is an operator post.....part of presidential security forces is...GAURD DUTY, I'm sure if
you do well...doors would open for future life. No drinking, carousing, early bed, 10 on your uniform at all times, never show loss of emotional control, be respectfull at all times, and the such, and you have to do this for a few years....I not saying that the the rest of us Marines don't have these traits, I'm saying that most of us would hate to stand tall for for hours and not be able to get into the thick of things).
Your recruiter is probably mixing FAST, Presidential Security Forces, and the like into his proposal to you.
I think one of the DOD personel I met in Somalia came from this background...yes armed to the teeth.
So If you think you can give up a few years standing, working on your uniform, never make an emotional mistake, be able to get a Top Secret(I know it has to be higher then secret), and you better get rank. Go for it, at 23 you are still young, think about your future. But, as I have said before...make a choice quickly...keep in contact...you will get walked through here...just do it!!!!

Seriously, SECURITY FORCES/HONOR GUARDS all of it requires much more than being able to keep perfect performance. You have to have no back ground flaws of any kind. All expunged records are pulled up and they don't show much leverage. And Tommys right, GUARD DUTY SUCKS!!!! But it'll put a good look on your record!
Gunny out!

Secret Sevice, or Diplimatic Security Service, but close personal protection is just one part of the machine. Yeah, couldn't do it with out the support personal. LOL

I remember going to the embassy in Karachi Pakistan, the Marines guarding the entrance were not any more spit and polished than any others I saw while there, they weren't even in dress blue's. They did have beer though :)
