hey all,
First time posting, long time reader. last year I contacted Don Mann (retired SEAL) to help me prepare for BUD/S, it was originally scheduled as a one on one training course. He said that the SEAL training he is going to put me through will be better with teammates. So far we have 2 more wannabe's preparing for BUD/S who are going through ASCOI. So now the program is called Advanced SEAL Course of Instruction (ASCOI). You can find the information about it here at this link: http://usfrogmann.com/SEAL-Training-Events/ascoi.php
Includes PT, sky diving, scuba, etc. it is approximately 4 days. PT every day. Our last day will be the SEAL Adventure Challenge (SAC) which consists of:
-Drown Proofing
-Ocean Swimming
-Pool Drills
-Monster Mash
-Physical Training
-Patrolling
-Soft Sand Runs
-Boat Drills
SAC will last 24 HOURS, that should finish us off! haha
here is a link for SAC: http://www.oarevents.com/event.asp?id=15&catID=3
Don Mann used to own OAR, but recently passed the torch, but he still own the SEAL Events.
The more people we get, the less expensive it will be. For a price quote or questions:

Thanks for reading guys!

So, with the sky diving i'm guessing it's going to be 18, but what kind of age restrictions are there going to be here? I'd love to particiapte, but I'm 16.

Yes, for skydiving you will have to be at least 18. While we skydive, Don will make you do 1000 push-ups or somethiing to that extent while we're up there. :)

Edited: there are waiver forms to sign such as medical.

Oh joy. I know how this goes. So I'm sitting around doing 1000 pushups. Everybody finishes the sky diving. When it's done, the CO says "now that everybody has had their fun for the day, it's time to do some work." It's time for some kinda PT. While everyone else is still rather fresh, my arms are rather dead.
Oh well, what ever doesnt kill you makes you stronger. If the dates on that website are correct I dont think I can make it, but it sounds like a blast. I'm sorry I'll miss it.

I am curious about their skydive program. You should find out what they are charging for an AFF Level I jump. You might be able to that cheaper at a DZ closer to your home. You should find out if they will recognize other AFF jumps you might have previously had. It would be cool if you could get to Level IV or V before you went there. Levels IV and V the jump masters let you go and it is a different sensation plus at Level V there is only 1 jump master and it is cheaper. By then you are doing turns a slight movements.
I definately suggest getting it video taped. It is absolutely worth it for 2 reasons.
1) Most first time jumpers will not remember much about their first jump. It is pretty overwhelming and you will miss a lot of the cool stuff you see. All you will remember was that it was amazing, but with the video you can see the things you missed.
2) the video is a great training aid. You will be able to see your body position and know what to work on. Skydiving is not just falling--it is body flight theory. Watching yourself is the best way to conciously make corrections.

This course will help you exactly ZERO at BUD/S. If you're doing it for fun, that's another thing.
Hell, if BUD/S prep is what you're looking for, come to Coronado and I'll kick your *** all over the beach for half that price ($4750) and a bottle of Crown.

Sandfrog sir,
When will you be availible for training? I have cut grass for 2 years and I can easily come up with the $2500. I am trying to get all the help I can and I am thinking of doing the secret jungle training in Costa Rica. How much does a bottle of crown cost?

HAHA
I think he was joking dude. I think the point of his joke was to help idiots like you save some money.
I'll tell you what... Since you're price shopping---For $500 and a bottle of well tequeila, I will follow you down the street in my car while you run. Every 1/2 mile I will blow some cigarette smoke at you and honk my horn. When we finally get to the bad side of town, I will turn around and speed off. If you can make it back home then you have graduated my course. I will make you a certificate on my printer so you can show the BUD/S instructors when you get there. Remember they are laughing "with" you not "at" you.

hehe, the point is to give you an idea of how BUD/S is going to be like. Most people's bodies are not used to being pushed out all day. just doing workouts for 3 hours a day isn't the same as doing a soft sand run, then immediately going into pt, then immediately running to the surf and doing more pt, then doing boat drills. You will have an idea of how your body will react.
Knowing how your body is going to react is going to help and how it stands up.
Will
ADDED: there is another event in October that I KNOW will help you at BUD/S, I will post it as a new topic if I get permission from the director.
Hell, if BUD/S prep is what you're looking for,
We had an OCS prep at Ft Sill in 66. All it did was add another 2 fing months to the OCS experience.LOL Did it help me????? Don't really think so. But I did learn the FDC and a bit about gunnery,..... however, I could have done that without the OCS part.

sandfrog, how many people do you think have graduated bud/s and would say they couldn't have done it w/o JoeBlow and his week long SEAL preperation extravaganza. I wouldn't think too many.
how high is the surf in Coronado?? I'm making a visit and want to know if I could surf.

I would say about ZERO.
Coronado surf is anywhere from ankle biters to overhead, depends on the weather. Lots of guys surf there, chances are it'll be good.

hey guys,
just to let you all know, the cost has been reduced to $3250 from the initial $4750 since more people are completely signed up, meaning payment full and all forms submitted. Be sure to read all the replies before this one, that will clear things up. And again, this will not make BUD/S any easier.
