Fellas,

I think I might need a surgery to fix a broken jaw, long story, and I will probably need a plate and a couple of screws. Will a surgery like this DQ me for BUDS? I talked to a recruiter and once again they don't know their elbow from their rear-end. In my mind, there has to be guys in the teams that have had surgeries with titanium surgical appliances permanently inserted in their body that still operate, but I'm not the professional here. If anyone has any insight in this I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks and have a good evening,

Redmann

Ress,

I do not knowfor sure, but I don't think it looks good. Buddy of my son enlisted when he did, went for BUD/s, had an auto accident in A-school and had a pin in his leg. No BUD/s for him.

This may or may not be true, but, they may waiver it if he is already SEAL. They have invested alot of $ in him. In your case, they have no investment and they may not waiver. Take care and good luck.

I would really talk directly to a dive motivator/SEAL motivator about this. They are probably the only ones that could get you a straight answer. Try to e-mail KoryKnowles@thesealquest.com.

Yes, lots of Teamguys are on the cyborg starter program, difference is, they all got hurt after they were in the Teams.

I'm not sure if you're DQ'd or not, I would say there's a very good chance that it won't have any effect on your chances to get to BUD/S.

Contact Kory Knowles (search this site) and see what he can do for you. Even if one Navy doc sais no, get a second opinion, it's worth fighting for. Dealing with pressure (diving, jumping) would probably be the main concerns for your injury, but I'm no doctor.... or even corpsman.

One of my best friends has two plates in his jaw and he's not limited in any aspect of the job.

Goodluck.
