Hey guys, It's been a while since I've been on the site. I've taken some time off to get some more information on BUD/S training. Thought I'd do some research and try to get all of the questions I had answered, then come back here and get some Extra info.

So I'm back.

Anyway, my question was in Address to BUD/s and It reguards the likelyhood of being dropped after you make it through Phase 1.

Alright, I read up some more on BUD/s Training in general and kept an eye out for people saying they got dropped after the first Phase...and I have to admit, I haven't heard of many who have been dropped post Phase 1.

So I was wondering if I'm correct in saying that if you graduate/ make it through Phase 1 of BUD/s the intensity and constant fear of being "shipped out" lets off a bit? I know that there is always the poss of being cut in BUD/s, it's just that I've yet to see very many people who get dropped in Phase 2, and even rarer, it seems that it's even less frequent that someone would get dropped in the 3rd Phase.

I would like someone who's been through the whole ordeal to give me an idea of what to expect, I mean, I'm a little lost in the idea that one could make it through Hell week and Phase 1, then be dropped for a bad run time in Phase 2, or is it the farther you go, the more likely it becomes to be rolled if you mess up?

I appreciate the help guys.

i havent gone through the BUD/S yet but i have asked the same question numerous times and i found from a couple differant sources that once you complete Hell Week, you are almost guarenteed graduation. but im sure a real SEAL will give you better information then what i have gathered for myself

Haha, you wish dude!

A lot of guys get dropped in all the phases for everything from run times, to pool comp, to just being turds, the pressure is relentless, just ask some of the dudes in third phase now.

No one is guaranteed graduation, you have to prove yourself every day. Third phase occasionally still gets quitters. "The only easy day was yesterday" isn't just a slogan, it's the truth.

Sorry bud, I already knew that wasn't true, I've heard of people being frequently dropped in the SCUBA phase, or Phase 2. I hadn't really heard of anyone being dropped in Phase 3...but it makes sense that it's possible.

Sandfrog, of any of you other BUD/s Graduates; I truely believe you when you say that it's easy for the instructors to drop you at ANYTIME for any reason, but I was just wondering if the student gets a little more slack in Areas because of how far he's gotten, or shpuld one consider that if he takes so much as one mis-step, his days of soaking up the chilly Coronado surf, and getting minimal sleep are over?

I really Appreciate all of y'alls help.

what i meant by what i said was that the large majority of cadets that drop out, usually drop out post Hell Week or during Hell Week

This was told to me by a friend who was a 2nd phase DOR, so take it how you want; He said his take on it was the phases get tougher by succession, its just that pretty much everyone who's going to quit already did.

For a little background, he's been out of the Navy for 13 years and went through BUD/S when he was 18. He openly admits he wasnt mature enough for the program at the time.
