I'm gitting myself ready to ship out at the end of Mar. and i'm taking the SEAL chalange in basic. My recruiter gave me a BUD/s packet with some workouts on it and i got to the begining of phase 2. He recomended that i should go to the local base and work out cuz that would probly do me better. I've worked out 3 times now and i feel more sore and like it's doing more for my body. So i was wondering if i should continue to keep wroking out at the gym or keep doing the BUS/s packet workout. I'm also looking for some advice on what i can do b4 i go into BUD/s to better prepair myself. I'm not a big guy at all considering i'm only 5'8" and 135lbs. Whenever i tell people that imma become a SEAL and i'm going to do whatever it takes no one believes that i can do it and it makes me really mad cuz i know that i can make it if i really put my heart into it. And it's kinda a downer when all i here is that i most likly am not going to make. Thanx in advanced of the help.

Turn that into motivation. Prove all of them wrong.

And before anyone jumps on you, put up a profile and take the SEAL out of your name.

Why should i change my name???? My name is SK_SEALs because this is what my rate is in the Navy. And if anybody is offended by this then sorry but I think that i'm aloud to have my rate as my name. I'm not trying to pose as someone that i'm not.

SEAL is not your rate until you have earned it. So no, this is NOT your rate. So no, you are not "aloud"....or allowed either. You can leave that as your name, no one can make you change it. But those who HAVE earned it won't like you much...or treat you very nicely. Just a heads-up.

Edit to add: You enter the Navy as an SR....Seaman Recruit. That is all you are until you have finished your A school.

if you only have less than a month to train for the PFT...buddy you better start PT fast. you need to do the whole test and not just pass the minimum. you need to blow it away. you wont get accepted if you just pass the minimum scores. try doing the warning order or the 12 weeks to BUD/S. at least that will start you on the right path. then if you beast it for the next month you can pass the test when you first get in because in basic, they probably wont prepare you for the test a whole lot...at least from what ive been told numerous times.

it is possible though, dont get discouraged because you leave in a month. if you really want something, you can be whatever it is you truly want. prove all those people wrong that said that you cant do it...im 5'7'' and 138lbs, almost exactly like you and a couple months ago everyone said i couldnt do it...well right now i have already proven everyone wrong because of what i can do....because i worked at it

stop the weight training, and go straight to the Warning Order you were given. Weight training will do nothing to help you, and when you're doing pushups, stay in pushup position in between sets.

Oh, ok dude. How about you email me your address and I'll just go ahead and send you your Trident right now? Would you like some freefall jump wings to go with that? We can just supersize you to a chief while we're at it.

I understand coming on here and not knowing the whole screen name thing, but don't be a ****holster about it when someone politely warns you.

Give yourself the full screen test. Don't cheat, and dont give yourself more than the alloted time between events. Check your scores, if your not significantly above the minimums, then your way behind the power curve with only a month out. If you had six months to go I'd say the wieights are ok, but with a month to go they are a waste of time. PT your *** off. Run, swim, do pushups, pullups, and situps you can throw in some dips. Stick to the warning order or the 12 weeks to BUDS, if your still hurting on your pt scores before boot you better be PT'ing as much as possible at boot. A month out is way to late to start getting ready, so you better be working your *** off, unless you like dungajams and big boats.

I think you can just re-register with a new name.

I've been training for a while now. Well I started at the begining of last summer and then my little bro who i do the workout with got in a really bad crash and was unable to work out. So i sat around for 3 months and got back to working out at the begining of Jan when mr bro got better. I can do 75 pushups and situps in under 2 min, run 1.5 miles in under 11.5min and 4 miles in 29min 40sec, and lastly 15 pullups. Without cheating and doing them withen 2 min of each other. All i want to know is if there is anything that i can do now to better prepair myself for BUD/s. Sorry again for offending anyone. I hope that my new name is better.

Oh yea one more thing.......I herd that if u work the same muscle to often then it will have the opposite effect on it. Like instead of making it stronger it'll over work it and make it weaker.

Yes, lifting a muscle too much will make it weaker. Each time you work out a muscle it breaks the fibers down and then when it rebuilds itself the muscle fibers are stronger so the next time you do somthing with that muscle it is stronger. If you over work your muscles they never have a chance to rebuild themselves thus they just keep on breaking down. If you are weight training then I suggest at least 48 of rest in between weight lifting sessions along with your pt. workout and do not do them on the same days.

I'm just the mom of a Phase III BUD/s trainee but here are my two cents. You need to listen to these people. They know what they are talking about. Guys who have earned (note the use of the word EARNED) their tridents are a very close-knit group. You have to pass a lot of tests before they allow you into their inner circle - that is what makes it so awesome when you make it!

According to my son, the guys who seem to do best in BUD/s are not the buff super-jocks..........it's the guys who are used to long hours of hard training - wrestlers/cross-country runners/swimmers and the like. So basically what it seems like you need to do is run - they run in boots on soft sand you know - swim - with and without fins - lots and lots of push-ups and pull-ups. I know at one point my son estimated that they were doing more than 1,000 push ups in a day.

So, good luck on your journey......it's not an easy one but you are sure to learn a lot along the way!

**TRANSLATION** I think what you meant to say was:

"Hahaha Sandfrog.........not funny. Maybe I will take you up on your offer, f*ckin' smart ***."

You're right dude, I think my *** just might be smarter than you.

About the only word you didn't misspell was "I", and that's probably only because there's no gay text message abbreviation for it. Goodluck with your ASVAB waiver.

EDIT: Nevermind, I just noticed you didn't even capitalize it.
What's funny is that if I take out all the words you misspelled, your sentence still sounds about the same in intelligence and meaning.

Note: "Hahaha sandfrog not will take up on offer smart ***."

Do us all a favor and go *****slap your english teacher.

I don't see anything in any of your posts about swimming. If you swim slower than about a nine minute 500 yards at boot you're get drilled about why they should let such a slow swimmer into BUD/S. Trust me I saw it happen to plenty of guys. That's not to say that they won't let you in, but you don't want a reputation of being weak in anything when you arrive in Coronado. I am not saying I'm a SEAL cause I'm not, I'm just another wannabe like you but the guys I know that are already classed up or are waiting out in Coronado told me that if you have a glaring weakness in ANYTHING the instructors will exploit it to the fullest. It's probably best to not bring that kind of attention to yourself right off the bat.

I don't have access to a pool. The base near my house is going to build one but by the time it's done I'll be gone. I have always loved swimming and have always been really good at it. I guess that I'll just have to wait and see when I get there to see how good I think I am. Thanks for the help to those of you who helped me and answered my questions. My hat goes off to you sandfrog for being so kind and gentle.
