I was wondering if there are any social taboos against only children joining the military. All I can think about is becoming a SEAL but sometimes I feel irresponsible for wanting a dangerous assignment. Just need some input before I break the news to my parents.
Thanks

This is an odd question. Only you know the social structure of YOUR family, and what is acceptable and what isn't, and what is expected of an only child.

People get killed walking their doggy, when it's your time to go, it's just your time. No need to spend your life worrying about when it's going to end.
Life is like a race car; it's meant to be driven, not stored in a garage for 60 years 'cause you're afraid to get a scratch on it. Your parents will understand.
Besides, your life will actually be safer as SEAL, as well as unbelievably rewarding.
