Hi everybody, I'm new to this form and just had a couple questions. first off, I'm a sophmore in college and have been a runner my entire life. This has its advantages and disadvantages, on the up side, I can run...well. However, this has also caused me, at 6", to never go north of 145 Lbs. I am definitely what most people would refer to as a "skinny guy". However, I can handle my own body weight pretty well, and have been working on strength training for a while now and I'm starting to see improvements. I have such a high metabolism that I have about as much trouble gaining weight as most people have losing, and no matter how much I lift, will never be able to have the physique of the typical hollywood macho guy. My question is this: when going through the training for the special forces (and all military in general, but let's say special forces because that's what I'm most worried about), how much emphasis is placed on one's ability to handle their OWN body weight as opposed to being able to lift...heavy bags of sand or weights or chairs or anvils or tree stumps or any other crazy item they might have you lift? Which also leads me to the question of, if there is such a thing, the most desireable or "typical" body type of a member of the special forces. If anybody could help me out, it would be much appreciated. I just need assurance that extreme bulking up isn't in order.
Thanks,
Ben
