The two links on http://www.sealchallenge.navy.mil/seal/req_vision.asp about eye surgery both say "page cannot be found." Does anybody know a phone number or e-mail address that can be contacted to find out specifically about eye surgery policies for new acessions?

My questions are can you be a SEAL if you've had civilian LASIK, civilian PRK, civilian customLASIK, and questions about further restrictions...the recruiter I talked to seems to not know what exactly he is talking about.

Anyone know who to contact to find out FOR SURE what the restrictions are?

Thanks.

Bump.....I would like to know as well. Im in the DEP and deciding if I should get LASIK/PRK now or wait till I'm in the Navy. I really need to talk to someone that knows what the deal is with these policies. Thanks.

I have 20/25 in one eye and 20/30 in the other. Would I need a correction? Sorry for the third question.

I got PRK done not even a year ago, and I'm in the Navy now fixing to goto BUD/S. Give me an email if you want some information, but you can get the surgery done by a civilian doc, you'll just need to get a waivor signed when you go in, but that's easy to get. Hope that helped.

If i were you I would get the surgery done while a civilian. Just my advice. Check this site out. www.navymedicine.navy.mil when you get there click on the bumed tab at the top then go to the left side of the screen and you will see items of interest and corrective eye surgery. Click on the tabs at the left and it should be all the info you will need.
