Hey guys I just wanted to say hello and also ask a few questions. First of all i signed up for the Marines already (went to meps last week and it lasted 12 hours!) and i ship out on august 15th. I am a Force Reon hopeful and any advice (mental, physical) would be most appreciated on how to accompish this goal. I am training with a former Force Recon Sgt. Batmungal i think...(batman for short) and he's shown me alot and explained alot but if you guys have any advice on stuff i can do on my own free time then feel free to post. Also what does Semper Fi mean?? Ok thanks guys and wish me luck

Wow, well...good luck? That having been said, you don't know what the Marines, or the Infantry is about, worry about those two first. I am no authority on being recon but I know what being an 03 is about. I will say this, it ain't like highschool man.

Right now son just concentrate on getting your body into good shape......Start with Push-ups,
Sit-ups, Squat Thrusts, and Running....Start out slow if you haven't worked out before and
work your way up pushing yourself a little further each time....Your going to need a 1st class
PFT (Physical Fitness Test) out of Boot Camp...Don't Worry about FR yet...Concentrate on
making Boot Camp First......The wash-out rate was very high when I went through in the
early 70's....So just get yourself in shape for now. Start reading alot of books on the MARINE
CORP will help also......Mentally I can't help you there...YOU gotta WANT IT REAL BAD!!
BTDT- Skyhawk....

Ok dont take this the wrong way but as constructive criticism...you are not ready for Recon yet,go Infantry be the best you can be,serve in the fleet and then if you are squared away and have better quals try out at Indoc!

thanks for the advice but i have 5-6 months to train better and get better "qualifications" because im not going to settle for just average....maybe if you can put basic qualfs then i CAN have a better idea about what i need to shoot for.... saying what I should push for would be a bit more constructive lol.....but thanks anyways

hey guy, first off i want to say i joined this forum to tell you this stuff and that's it. i commend your commitment to being superior and not just average, not wanting to take the path that many were afraid to try you rush head strong into the challenge. that's the way to do it brother, no need to sit around and waste time like some of the other guys are saying. so here's my advice to achieve your goal of becoming a force recon marine. don't start with easy excersises, start with hard ones and get harder fast. run everyday, do pullups everyday and do them overhanded. work on swiming lots and lots of laps. make things awkward for yourself when you excersise just to get used to it. when you swim, swim sometimes in cloths 'cause we swim in cammies alot. when you run, run with a backpack with some wieght in it and do that in pants 'cause we do that too. don't ever ever give up. that's the most important thing. there's wavers for a substandard gt score but you're only gonna get it if they want to give it to you. they're only gonna want to give it to you if want to be there and it shows. i think if you want to be recon you should read recon books, if you want to be a sniper, read sniper books if you want to be a grunt read grunt books. alot of guys get butthurt about not being recon so they'll try to styfle you and tell you there are no special marines and we're all the same bla bla bla. there could be nothing further from the truth. going through bootcamp and soi and all that jazz, being with those people, you can see a difference and that's probably the thing that makes recon so different, the people. most guys in recon won't freak out if your hair is a little longer than normal and your cammies aren't as pretty as the admin guy's are because they know it's not that important. what's important is being a good team player and knowing your stuff in the field because that's what we're here for. anyways man, good luck and don't let all the naysayers get you down. stand up straight and walk on.

Hey Brother, Why don't you fill out a Profile so everyone can see who you are? I take it your Active Duty
now from your Post? Are you Conus or Deployed? Personally I think your a Poser because REAL MARINES
don't swim in PANTS....and we don't have "wavers" in Recon.....GO BLOW SMOKE SOMEWHERE ELSE

You're so full of $hit -- your post doesn't deserve an honest; intelligent reply due to your incompetence and stupidity ... not to mention, you can't spell worth a damn either!
So, I'll tell you what - KID - go back to reading your books ... then, join the ARMY -- at least in there, you can be AN ARMY OF ONE...LOL! :D

A systematic disection of your BullSh!t.
i commend your commitment to being superior and not just average,
I commend the bus that may hit you. You think people deserve commending because of "wanting" or "dreaming"? I "want" to build a time machine---that doesn't make me noble--even though it's not average.
so here's my advice to achieve your goal of becoming a force recon marine.
OH....I can't wait. Please tell us--oh master of Warlords. By the way---would you write your mom's name in lower case letters?
make things awkward for yourself when you excersise
Like riding a bicycle with no seat??? Dude, please take your advice to the appropriate site---I'maHOMO.com
and do that in pants 'cause we do that too
Again, dude--what you do in your "pal" Brock's "pants" is better left off this site. Remember, there are minors here.
i think if you want to be recon you should read recon books, if you want to be a sniper, read sniper books if you want to be a grunt read grunt books.
I think if you want to be a "sniper" then you should enlist and not be such a p*ssy. I watched a movie about a brain surgeon last night----would you let me operate on your mother? Please say yes>>>
alot of guys get butthurt
I'm not going to warn you again dude.... I think you are confusing Marines with those lonely hitch-hikers you and your "pals" pick up.
being with those people
The first honest thing you have said---"THOSE PEOPLE"---I like the way you didn't associate yourself with "YOUR" supposed brothers.
good luck and don't let all the naysayers get you down.
Please set yourself on fire.
go back to reading your books ... then, join the ARMY -- at least in there, you can be AN ARMY OF ONE...LOL! :D
Damnit, I think I resemble that remark.LMAO
A62 Fire mission over.....................Shot, out.
Damnit, I think I resemble that remark.LMAO
A62 Fire mission over.....................Shot, out.LOL...somehow, I knew you'd say something! :D
BTW; I like the way you answered that IDIOT above!
