I leave for boot in September 6th. 19 days before my 18th B-Day! I am going to be an EM which I believe if my recruiter is right, 45 days long. Which means, I will be one of the first waiting to class up in indoc. More torture for me, HOOYAH bring it on!

Whos the idiot that bragged that he was never going to quit to his hometown newspapers and consequently had a front page article written up about him--that a couple SEAL Instructors found... hehehe. My friend is in 254 and wants to know if he has made it to coronado yet. I hope hes ready, the instructors are going to have a field day with him. HooYah PTTRR DOR. Just a word of advice, to anyone going to BUD/S, try brining in a humble attitude. Usually the most confident people in life are the most humble. Even if you aren't humble, don't tell the instructors how much of a bada$s you are.

Just an update on that story, his class got moved to 257, I just talked to my friend. The instructors already have his BDU's ready for him. Haha, he goes to medical the first day, gets the A-OK stamp and gets beaten right off the bat. They have his article posted up in some of the instructors offices--he is going to get it rough.

I heard about that. Someone in his family wrote the newspaper. A couple days later he was on the front page with the headline " I RATHER DIE THEN QUIT"....
What a Tool.

When he gets here, the instructors are gonna have him med cleared in about 2 hours. They have also made T shirts with his article screened on the front, and they're planning on wearing it while they beat him. Poor guy... and his article is posted up on every wall in every office. And his cammies, already stenciled and on a hanger waiting for him...

I am not familiar with this story, but I have heard many stories just like it.
In fact, I read similar statements on these forums every day. How many people here have said, amongst friends and family, "I would rather die than quit"? How many of you plan on failing? Raise your hand---
Nobody plans on failing--and everybody thinks they would never quit. It's easy to say that sh^t when your not cold, wet, and tired--to a degree they have never known.
It sounds like the only difference between this dude and all other wannabes is the fact that he got some publicity.
If he goes to BUD/S and DOR's then he will be amongst the 80+% that do---something tells me that this drop rate has little to do with news paper articles and more to do with BUD/S kicking them in the balls.
If he makes it then he deserved it---if he doesn't then he didn't.
If anything he probably boosted enlistment in his Maybury(or whatever) town. Seriously, what kind of town puts some 17 year olds statement as the head lines?

Well, if that articule was written without him knowing about it. Thats one thing. Then its not his fault. But if he wanted this articule to be written then he deserves what he gets. I might have referred to him as a "Tool". But I have nothing against the kid, I just think it not very smart to do something like that.

Hey Demo,
I agree dude. I have heard it said that a key to BUD/S is avoiding unwanted attention. I guess he already f^cked that up.
I am just saying, who hasn't said the same sh^t?

Your right, you have to be a very determinded to become a SEAL, and I am sure a lot 'of people feel that way. This poor kid obviously doesn't understand the consquences of haveing that sorta thing published.....Although im sure hes gonna find out soon.

BUD/S in a clown suit?
No, it's better to show up in a t-shirt that says "What the F#CK are you looking at?"

There was a guy in my class who showed up with a fresh tattoo on his chest that said "whatever doesn't kill me makes me stronger". The instructors took that as a challenge...... he definitely got stronger.

Lesson for the wannabes: don't stick out, don't draw attention to yourself or you'll pay for it...
(just to be clear:I'm NOT a SEAL; I'm just giving my own opinion).

I think you mean don't stand out in a bad way. I'm gonna try to stand out as much as possible, by winning all 4 mile timed runs and swims, and volunteering for swim-buddy and stuff like that. I want the instructors to know me as a good guy.

He ended up getting rolled then dropped in third phase, I don't remember what for, then came back a year or so later and made it through. He was a bit of a nut case and an ASVAB waiver, but there was no doubt he was hard.

Well, I am off to Boots Jan 11. I am going to QM school which is eight weeks and also located at Great Lakes and I figure I should be classing up around sometime in May/June 2006 for BUD/S. So, if anyone is classing up around the same relative time frame pass me an email at Resurrected4ever@aol.com. Good luck to all!
