I know a guy who I believe said was in Class 864. I know that in the sequential numbering system they are nowhere near this, but I recall reading that there was a different numbering system in use for awhile. The guy I know says he went through it in the late 1960's, and I think he might have fought in Vietnam, but I don't remember him talking about it. I'm well aware of the Wall of Shame and AuthentiSEAL,but he didn't seem like the usual type of guy who fraudulently claims to be a SEAL, so I didn't want to bring that into this. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

As you stated, this is not true.
After WWII there were two UDT Training Compounds, one in Little Creek, VA., and one in Coronado, CA.
The first classes out of Little Creek, VA. were numbered with Alphas up through the first two classes. After that the Classes were numbered numerically, such as 1, 2, and so on. In 1967 a 4-digit system was adopted where the first Class in 1967 became Class 6701. From the Little Creek graduates one will get varied Class numbers as there was some resistance to change by the old Frogs. Many stuck with the unofficial single digit system, others accepted the 4-digit system. As an example, some UDT grads to this day will sign their correspondence as "Class 39/6701", or "52/7102". Classes at Little Creek, VA., continued up through August 1971, with Class 7102 or 52, whichever one prefers to address it. Hereafter Classes were consolidated to Coronado, CA.
The first training out of Coronado, CA. were not really Classes at all. In those days personnel reported singularly to Coronado and were immediately placed into a Team, of which there were only two, UDT-1 and UDT-3. The new personnel were "Teamed Trained" while they were assigned to an actual Team. When the Korean War started the first organized Class was formed in mid-1950. However, this Class was in such demand that a few days prior to completion of training they were shipped to Korea without benefit of a diploma, a graduation, or assignment of a Class number. This Class having no number I call 0 (zero). Thereafter, Class 1 graduated in early 1951. Following, the Class numbering system continued sequentually, and as I write Class 254 is in the early stages of BUDS Training.

Thanks for the info, Wazz. I think I'll ask the guy again about his class number. I have a lot of respect for the guy, he was our athletic trainer at my high school, which is why I don't want to take this to Authentiseal.org unless I'm sure. Like I said, I had to ask him about it, its not like he was bragging about it. BTW, I said this in another thread, but I got a buddy goin in 254, in Hell Week right now. Hooyah!
If you don't want to verify him with the database, try to verfy his class # and see if you can find out what team he was with in RVN and where they operated? Oh, and was he SEAL or UDT? Sorry Wazz.LOL Be a good start. Good luck to your bud.

You are always a positive addition to my threads. We make a good Team, a two pronged attack, i.e. By Land and Sea.
