Cross rating after BUD/S

I have a question about trying to crossrate once through BUD/S. Although I don't want to undermine what I know it will take to get through BUD/S, how would I go about crossrating once completed? My current rate is a SEAL Source rating but in my opinion "AW" as a rate poses no help to a Team. I would be interested in crossrating to become an "HM", as I see it would be more benifitial to both the Teams and my career. My other question may or may not be for this forum but I figure I'll give it a shot. How does one work around a "worhtless" Career Conselor? I can't get his help at all in any matters involved with the Teams. Mostly because he's retiring, but his retirement does not weigh into my career and I need to get this package together.

As long as it's a source rate it doesn't matter what your rate is , you won't work in it anymore. Crossrating is easy, guys do it all the time.

About your CCC problems, go around him or over his head if you have to. Don't let his trailing career make yours difficult.
