You're more than welcome! Bahahaha...all my avi's are about the hoo's or their suspenders. I was sent an email with all of the dates for the East and West coast reunions. As of yet I don't have plans for them but that can always change. Right now things are a mess with my Mom's estate and getting all of that taken care of. It got so bad that I became an adult runaway for 22 days and just got back home this past Saturday. If I do come out that way I will certainly let you know.
Thank you for your note and a big thank you for those kind words. Your comment about a former life made me smile.
We got as many pics as we could for the drawing and it looks pretty good. The search for pics led hubby to buying me 2 books on the Nightstalkers
I'm doing very well, it's summer over here. My one aunt and uncle from England are visiting for the month and we're having a great time. They braught me 2 presents for Xmas, one has to wait till the day to open but the other I got to open on Friday. My aunt knows I have quite the sense of humor and a wicked mind so she baught me a phalic shaped 8 inch piece of candy. We were all laughing so hard when I opened it I couldn't breathe, my brother was on the floor and my hubby was in tears.
I also got a really lovely anniversary present from hubby in October. Here's a link to the picture I put on facebook.
Right now I'm sending as many good thoughts and prayers to the 3 Team guys in the USA, I sat and cried reading that news story. Fingers are crossed and I'm praying hard for them.
Hope you and your loved ones are doing well and have a great month and holidays. Happy Holidays to you too.
Its great to hear from you, I hope you and hubby are both doing well. I'm glad you loved NZ, its a pretty special place but I'm just biased because I live here. So where did the two of you visit? I guess just places like Auckland, Rotorua, Queenstown etc? Did you go bungy jumping? Was everyone friendly?
As for my novel I'm on a go slow, we just had four weeks of visitors at our house and life was crazy and now they've gone I'm having trouble getting back into it. Its actually been 2 years now since I started the damn thing and its still not finished. Feeling a bit down but not out I am going to finish it even if it kills me
Anyways its great to see you back, hope to see you more often. Happy Holidays.
Welcome Back! When I got the email saying I had received a comment from you, my first thought was...I wonder if she's feeling Beaverific! Things on my end have been crazy hectic lately and I am hit or miss on the site during the day. Thank you for the kind words, but it really is a Team effort here. I will be sure to pass along your message. I hope you and yours are all well and safe. Happy Holidays to you and your family as well!
Glad to know I'm not the only one walking around talking to herself. One of hubby's classmates was rolled back, so I actually got to hear a few details about how the boys are doing out there. I'll keep my fingers crossed that your Frog makes it back sooner rather than later!!
Boo's doing well. He's in Pensacola now. They treat him very well there just because he went to BUD/s. He has an EOD spot promised to him thanks to a relative of his who is pretty far up the Navy food chain. lol He's just so torn right now. Of course, his dream is SEAL and always will be.
Training is going pretty well- my knee is holding up better than I thought it would. I will still be mostly walking the marathon, but I am thinking I may be able to muscle about 8-ish miles of running interspersed with the walking. Like K said- even if you don't feel up to doing the SD marathon, I hope you'll come out and join us either before or after for a little NSC meet-up.
As far as slacking off on your training... if someone I loved had just come back from being gone a long time you can bet marathon training would be the LAST thing on my mind!
Wow long time no talk, hope you had a great holiday. I am doing really good other than being home with three sick kids, damn cold and flu season. The training is going well and I start my official training program on Feb 8th http://www.runnersworld.com/article/0,7120,s6-238-244-255-11937-0,00. html If you don't feel up to running it you are more than welcome to come and cheer the rest of the crew on. School still going well?
My friend, I came by to wish you a very Merry and Blessed Christmas. May you have a joyful time with your loved ones and I wish you only good things in the new year!
I know you are probably having fun hanging out with your BTF, just wanted to check in and say HI! I am working on getting ready for the marathon on May, walking my fanny off, hope your running is going well.
My friend, happy Thanksgiving to you and your loved ones (especially your husband). Take care and God bless you and your family ...just curious - what is the great news about your husband?
Hey Teamwife I know that you are otherwise occupied right now, but I wanted to let you know that the marathon in May out in SD is going to done by a group here to raise money for the NSW foundation. We will be posting a thread on this once we have more details, so hopefully you will be checking in here once and a while. Hope things are good with you.
Just wanted to add my excitement as well. So glad to hear BTF is back home to you safe and sound. You must be so proud and happy -- and I can only imagine how excited he is to see you! Enjoy your time together!!!!
I left a message on the thread you started, but also wanted to stop by here and say I am SO happy for you! I could feel your smile coming off the screen from your message!
So glad to hear you're doing well. I was having a rough time this weekend and it helped to think that other women are going through situations far beyond just being separated by 3,000 miles and they are doing just fine!
I'm looking forward to my first post-marathon run tomorrow. I took the week off to rest my knee and a toe/blister. I'm a PM runner mostly because I just love the snooze button. Totally agree with you, though: there is something about brisk morning that is just so energizing. I signed up for a Boot Camp class at my YMCA last year and had class at 5:30 a.m. three times a week. I hated getting out of bed but LOVED the feeling at 6:45 a.m. when I realized what I had accomplished.
Hey TW. Hope your having a great weekend. I'm glad your doing better and it sounds like you are really busy at the moment. I'm struggling to write a romantic suspense novel, its something i've always wanted to do so I decided to just go for it. I've been working on it for a year now but its getting there. Anyways hope you get a chance to relax and have some fun. J.
It was not a fun weekend away, it was a training weekend. I hurt in places I didn't even know that I had. My CO wants the platoon to be able to run 8km sub 50min, this should more than have me ready for the marathon. Hope you had a good weekend as well.
Hi V, Thanks for the message. I've missed our chats this week. It was a hell of a week and I'm so over the travelling too. Though I may have to travel again soon, it never ends. I'm finally getting around to my mail today and was happy to get your message. Hope you're doing good. We'll have to catch up with each other soon, just wanted you to know I'm back and I'll be looking forward to hearing from you and what you've been up to. Hopefully all good! Looking forward to tonight's episode. Did you notice that there's only 2 left for the season finale? We'll have to discuss it - LOL! Well take care & TTYS. Marilyn
I generally root for Stanford, since I grew up on the peninsula and the school is on this side of the bay. I lived in Palo Alto for a couple of years, and grew to HATE game-day due to traffic but I am past that now. Much easier to not live near the college!
I am definitely (barring some catastrophe) going to do the SD marathon- I will be walking it and it will take forever, but I am going to do it. ALl you runner types will just have to keep a seat warm for me wherever you all end up.
I actually started in the hospital as an EKG tech- my mom had worked there for years and I needed a job with health benefits since I wasn't living at home anymore. I thought it would be a placeholder job until I figured out what I really wanted to do. After about 6 months, I realized that I really enjoyed patient care, so I explored what my growth options were. My mom is an echo tech, and it seemed like it had some job security, so I started my campaign to get the hospital to OJT (on the job training) me. There were no schools in this area for cardiac ultrasound at that time, and moving to San Diego/Loma Linda/Oregon was not in the books for me financially. So, after 2 years of working for the hospital they figured I was a good bet for training, and there you go! I took my ARDMS boards two years later, so now I have the same certification as someone who went to school. It was more common to OJT 10 years ago- now there are more schools so most hospitals will only hire grads. It is a great career- I actually left the hospital to be a marketing manager for Acuson/Siemens Ultrasound for 5 years, got to travel the world and see the 'business' side of ultrasound. It was fun, but I missed patient care so I went back to the hospital. I would highly recommend it as a career, as it is a very flexible career hours-wise, and you can get a job ANYWHERE. Seriously- every city that has a hospital is looking for echo techs- either in the hospital or in cardiologist's offices.
Hey TW just stopping over to say howdy, hope you had a great weekend. We enjoyed the last of the warm weather for a while I'm guessing. It was in the high 70's this weekend and beautiful, unfortunately the indian summer will end very soon. Then the snowpants come out!
OK- on this page there is mention of cake, cross-fit, SD marathon, and halloween: those are all on my list of favorite things/things I want to know more about. Cake- given it is a favorite thing. Cross-fit- trying to figure out if this will work with my knee surgery past, but very interested to hear any feedback. SD marathon- I am really thinking I may have to try to get ready for this, even if it means run/walking the thing. Halloween- just a happy holiday, no pressure of presents family obligations. Also, wanted to check in and see how you were doing and if you had had any news about homecoming.
I dunno when I'll start training for the SD, but it will go better than what I've done for the Baltimore Marathon this Saturday (which, so far, has consisted of pretty much nothing.) I coach modified field hockey in the Fall and I forgot how busy and flustered I get with organizing practices and traveling to games. I'm hoping to start my training for the SD in early January and shoot for a sub 4:30 time. I'm so glad to meet someone (besides my hubby) who does CrossFit. I haven't officially started any program yet, but I'm definitely gearing up to start once the field hockey season ends. Anyhoo, just thought I'd shoot you a message. Hope your week is going well.
Hi. The cakes sound wonderful! Do you have any left?
I admire the running you do. The main reason I came to this site was to get inspiration for exercise. Ugh. Hate it (exercise... not the site... L0L).
Yes, I'm in TX. Recovering from Hurricane Ike and getting back to normal.
I might wear a pumpkin costume to work if I get my nerve up. I'd have to take it off, but it would be fun for awhile. Do you have a costume? I love this time of year.
LOL its funny you mention that about crossfit, I was looking into what it would take to get certified and was thinking of doing it next year when I'm done my training. We are right now 95% sure that we are moving to Calgary at the end of the school year and they have a couple of affiliates there. Glad your feeling better, I'm getting anxious for Sat morning to get here myself(mostly bc I will get a break from the kids for 3 days ).
Yep- I am a cardiac ultrasound tech! I also do some vascular scanning, mainly carotid ultrasounds and abdominal aorta scans. I am the clinical manager of the sonographers in my hospital, which means that I don't have to deal with budgets/hiring/firing, just keeping everyone's skills up to par. I wondered how you were familiar with cardiology from a prior message of yours- not many people under 50 know what a cardiologist is.
Also, may I tell you how happy I was when your Beav's beat USC? Very happy!
Hope all is well with you. No, I'm not in the Teams, I'm civilian.. but I'm a big supporter of Navy SEALs... I do SEAL training programs, currently "12 weeks to BUD/S program" by former SEAL Stew Smith Have a nice day and take care
Just wanted to stop by and say again that my hopes are with you that your BTF gets home safely and sooner rather than later. Are you running the Rock and Roll Marathon in May? I am thinking about trying to get down there for that, although it is so monotonous to WALK 26 miles that I may try to train for a partial run/walk.
