Congrats on the magazine article. Hope you'll share a link once it's published so I can read it. Good luck with the book, hope you succeed in getting it published and good luck with any contests you enter.
Oh you lucky girl! Michael Biehn is my heartthrob! I still have a crush on him all these years after the Navy SEALs movie. I even liked him in The Abyss even though he played a bad guy. And I honestly burst into tears watching The Rock. I read a few years ago that he was going to do some narration work for the UDT/SEAL museum but I don't know if he did.
No need to be jealous just yet, mother nature is screwing with me right now. It's raining today and it's predicted to rain for the air show.I'm not happy.
I'll be sure to post photos on my facebook page after the air show if I get some good ones. I'm hoping there will be some good looking men in uniform too
Hi! How's life in your end of the world? 7 days till the AAD expo here, can't wait for all the American "toys" to arrive Might even get to meet a Brigadier General from the US national guard.
Between my new nephew and my photography life is starting to get busy and thrilling.
Woke up at 5am thanks to the darn cats. They figured it was time to play and knock things over, that included the pepper pot. They then thought it would be fun to bounce on the bed. Managed to get them to all go play outside then headed back to bed till 11am.
Now I'm having a lazy day. No hangover thank goodness.
One thing I must do today is keep reminding myself it's Friday and tomorrow is Saturday or else I'm liable to forget to buy my lottery ticket. It would be wonderful to start the year off with a lottery win (I can wish can't I)
No plans for going out. it was bad enough fighting my way around the shops. It was like everyone was shopping for the end of the world or something. I just needed extra cat food and milk.
Hubby says it's better if we stay home and off the roads, all those drunk drivers out there. Plus the idiots in my neighborhood started letting off fireworks last night already and my cats were terrified. I'm staying right here to protect them and keep them calm. Will also try and get a photo of the Blue Moon if I see it.
That dam hole in the ozone layer gave my aunt and uncle great tans! I also got a little sunburn on my arms and it stings like hell! It's agony when a mosquito bites you in your sleep and you scratch the bite right on your sunburn.
We took them to the airport last night at 9:30pm, their flight only left at 1am and they had to get through security first. Since the flight was only half full they were told they only needed to go through security at midnight so we were allowed to stay with them and chat and have a last few hours together. It was just what I needed and we said our good byes and hugged all smiles and happy no tears. There was one point I thought i would feint. The one suitcase was 6kg over weight and my uncle had to pay 180 euros which is 2040 rand. That's a huge amount down here considering the plane ticket was 6000 rand.
They should be landing in about 2 hours in Amsterdam and in 5 hours they should be home in England. It's 0 celsius in Amsterdam at the moment. They are going to freeze their asses off getting off the plane. But they have some great photos and video clips to show off. They hope to be back for New Year 2012 and they are going to try and talk my uncle Peter into coming to visit when he retires from his job in Saudi Arabia in June 2010.
House is awfully quiet without them and it's kind of strange only making one cup of coffee this morning not 3. But I'm doing fine and I'll chat to them on YM or facebook later when they get home.
yep managed to finish the puzzle. Had to take it outside and sit in the sunlight to see the subtle difference in color and figure out where the misplaced piece was.
Jigsaw puzzle is a royal pain in the ass. The last piece will not fit. I've spent an hour trying to figure out where on the puzzle the misplaced piece is and I don't see it. Took me all morning to get the sky pieces in place. If I ever get my hands on the person that made this puzzle I'll torture them. I had 6 pieces all fit in the same space but only one was the right piece. The top border pieces fit together 4 different ways. Told hubby that next time he gets me a puzzle he needs to make sure it's by Ravensberg. They make good puzzles, this puzzle is by someone called Dino and it's horrible. Nice picture, cool that it glows in the dark but the dam pieces are a nightmare to fit together. I need coffee!
We just got back from spending the morning on the beach. My aunt has dreamed her whole life of eating ice cream on the beach on Christmas day. I will be sure to send you a photo as soon as it's edited.
Santa braught me a salt and pepper pot set with the stars and stripes on them with a matching milk jug and sugar bowl. Those were from my aunt and they are stunning. Santa also sent me from hubby a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle of New York city at night with the twin towers and it's NEON. When it's done it will glow in the dark. Tomorrow my cell phone gets upgraded and I get a shopping voucher!!
Glad to hear you are better, it's no fun being sick over Christmas. I feel for you with the heat, it's hot down here too but with a slight breeze and some bad weather predicted. My aunt has always had this dream of eating ice cream on the beach on Christmas day so we're going to do that for her at 6:30 in the morning on Friday. Will definitely send you a photo.
All Christmas shopping is done now I just need to wrap the presents. My 4yr old niece is into "Ben 10" I've never heard of it/him so I had to google it before going shopping. What a way to make me feel old.
Yep 3 more sleeps before Santa gets here. It's been hard for everyone to get me a present this year, after getting those wonderful presents in August from a friend and the t-shirts from hubby there is honestly nothing else I want that people down here can get me. It's a weird feeling to find I've cleared off my wish list of presents in the space of 18 months after having had that list for so many years.
What's Santa bringing you?
Read something funny this week:
Have you ever noticed on your calendar that after Monday and Tuesday even the calendar says WTF?
HELLO! How are you doing? How's the writing going? Santa Claus is coming in 4 days!
I am having the most wonderful time hanging out with my aunt and uncle. My aunt keeps trying to get me to drink a dark rum and coke with her but I'm sticking to the weak alcohol. She got my husband drink on Thursday night
I take after my uncle a lot. He was telling me that when I first learnt to crawl he would call me dirty knees because my knees were always dirty from all the crawling. He also told me that I had this habit of clinging to his leg, sitting on his foot and hanging on whenever he tried to walk anywhere. It's so nice hearing stories about me from those first 2 years of my life. He says he remembers how I had these really chubby cheeks as a baby. He was also telling hubby where my love of flannel pillow cases comes from. Apparently I had a "blankie" when I was a baby and it was a blue flannel pillow case.
Hey KG...I'm working on it. I actually went out and got a tree today. Maybe sometime tomorrow after I get home from the hospital. If not, it will keep until later in the week. I'll be running back and forth starting tomorrow until they release her sometime after 5 days.
Message received. Thanks for relieving the paranoia
How is the writing going? I'm putting the writing on hold till my aunt leaves, I'm enjoying spending time with her and getting to do some "therapy" talking. Check my facebook page. I posted a picture of the present she braught me. When I unwrapped it we all laughed our asses off. She says my sense of humor and wicked mind is precisely why she knew I'd love it. Hubby was in tears he was laughing so much. My brother was on the floor holding his sides, my uncle was laughing so hard he was coughing and my aunt was taking photos of me licking it. My mom was not impressed but we all just carried on. The conversation was in the gutter for a good hour and we all had a great time. We just let our hair down and enjoyed ourselves on Friday night. I'm beginning to wonder what it would have been like had I grown up with my aunt around. The only complaint she has is the weather, it's just so hot for her. She does have a lovely tan already though.
I can't wait for Xmas day, we're going to party. I hung this big blue Xmas star from my kitchen cupboard handle, the cupboard is high up. The cat took a flying leap from the top of the microwave to try and get it. Lucky for her I saw her wiggle her butt and was able to catch her mid air. Decorations and cats just don't mix.
Kia ora! I got your msg and thanks for stopping by an saying Hi! It's good to be back again on NSC ... been just living life and having fun! My husband and I actually went to New Zealand this past May for 2 weeks! LOVED IT!!!!! Amazing! I love your country and look forward to returning again. How is your novel coming?
Hi! Aunt and uncle arrived safely, they were 21 minutes late! We had quite the nightmare at the airport waiting for them. We arrived at 9:30pm to sit down and have a meal at the Spur restaurant there and watch the planes. First we waited 20 minutes for the waitress to come and take our order after seating us. Then we had to repeat ourselves 3 times, she braught the 4 cokes and strawberry milkshake on this tiny tray that over balanced as she put it down hard. My mom got soaked in coke and I got milkshake all over my SEAL t-shirt. The waitress laughed. Then we sat till 10:40pm waiting for our food, turns out the waitress had been put on kitchen duty and had failed to pass on our order so no food. The manager then tells us he's so sorry we don't have to worry about paying, so my hubby gave him quite the "manager" talking to. My brother then saw anothe customer slip on an unmarked wet floor and he layed into them about the health and safety act. We left there being promised a call from the big manager to sort out our issues and as we passed the complaints desk there were 3 more families filling out complaints. We won't be going back to that restaurant again at the airport and we're definitely going to pass on the word that the service sucks.
As for the writing I started in March 2002 with the storyline I'm still on.
Earthquake...WTH??? I'm not feeling much better at all today...and I woke at 4 AM with the fever I went to bed with last night...so I didn't go to the workout this morning at 0600. Every Doc appointment that I take my Mom to, they make me put on a mask...at the one this afternoon...the nurse and Doc wanted to give me something for it...I decided to sit in the waiting area...full mask on and sleep. Still feeling like crap on a stick and the weather here is horrible...snow, bitter cold temps and windy as can be.
My aunt and uncle arrive from England in 16 hours. I'm so excited I'm surprised I slept, but then I did do all that shopping and clean out the kitchen and stuff to tire myself out.
The writing block will go away on it's own, the harder you try the worse it gets. Although in your position you probably need it to go away fast so you can get the writing done for that competition. You are still entering aren't you?
I'm off to go and look at the FB profile of another new friend. I finally worked up the courage to ask him to be my friend on FB. I've been a little taken with him ever since reading his intro post back in June. Hubby's happy for me, he says while my mind is so busy thinking about SEALS it's not thinking about maxing out the credit card. LOL Although he would like me to try and think about other things like getting into bed at a reasonable hour, 5am is not reasonable.
Hey KG...thanks for the greetings. I have a few more things to do online and then I am headed to bed. I started Boot Camp today and 15 minutes into the hour I started coughing, sneezing and wheezing. Took my Mom to her Doctor's appointment and my sister had me put on a mask. I had to wear it again later this afternoon when I went to see my Doc. He told me that I should stop the training until I am well again...said it will do nothing but lower my immune system. I'll see what happens tomorrow morning. Have a good one!
Yippee! Free at last! It must be wonderful not having the parents over your shoulder. My aunt and uncle arrive on Wednesday night. I'm so excited.
Tried to get some writing done, I have all my notes in rough copy on paper and then I type them up on the PC, helps with the thinking process. I put all the papers on the PC tower and went out with hubby today, came home to find the kittens had knocked the papers on the floor and proceeded to shred 4 pages and leave claw marks threw at least 10 more. Hubby says this is one of those things that will be funny in my memoirs one day. I've decided to quit trying to find alternative words and polite language for the storyline and to just write it how I want it to sound. If it ever does get published it might need an age restriction.
So what movie did you go and see? I saw a preview of New Moon on TV. They were doing a top 10 list on E entertainment called Top 10 favorite vampires. Definitely going to look for it when it's available in store. I don't like going to the movie theatre. Why didn't you tell me the guys take their shirts off? Speaking of men with no shirts on, there's a facebook friend's gallery I'm off to have a look at again. It seems to be giving me inspiration. I did consider sending him a note and telling him I want to see more pics of him and his co-owner minus their shirts but I thought that might creep him out and sound so stalkerish. LOL
Sorry to hear NZ lost. I was having fun watching that game and looking out for the blue banner every time the camera panned round the field. I had to call it a night on my end at 3am, I think that was the point when NZ only needed 200 runs to win. I was so sad for Taylor getting out like that soooo close to that 100. McCallum has a nice upper body. Can't wait for the next match. Kitty is doing better, vet says he likes me that's why he gave me liquid antibiotics not tablets, getting her to take her meds is easy. The hard part is holding her down to clean the leg wound. If I ate custard (which I don't) I'd be put off it for life right now.
Hey is it my imagination or did you do a drive by on me????
How's your weekend shaping up. Mine's off to a bumpy start. Had to take one cat to the vet yesterday. She got a little battered and bruised by the neighbors dogs when she chased away a stray cat and went over the wall. The biggest injury is a cut on her paw that's developed a bit of an infection. I'm squeamish as hell so you can only imagine how I'm handling having to drain it and clean it. YUCK! Vet says she's a little in shock too from the huge fright she got. He gave her a few injections, one seems to be some kind of tranquilizer (she's 8 yrs old) Last night she threw up all over my blue blanket, blue camo duvet, blue sheet and 2 blue towels. Right now she's on my green camo blanket and so far so good.
Also got all the forms from the vet to fill in to have my 5 females fixed up in the new year. Wish I could put my cats on my medical aid as dependants. Vets fees seem to be equal to doctor's fees!
How's it going with the parents? Only a couple of more days right?
My mother is an expert at sucking the joy out of decorating a Christmas tree. See the tree belongs to hubby and I (plastic, fake tree) and the decorations are all inherited from his mom (same decorations he had as a kid)so only I get to touch and decorate the tree, that way nothing gets lost or broken. Every year my mother starts nagging on December 1st as to a date and time when I'll put up the tree. I usually like to do it when I'm in the mood and feeling cheerful. I did it today after being nagged for 4 straight days. The funny thing is her cat (3 months old, one of my kittens) attacked the tree first chance he got. I just laughed! I warned her that the tree was in a bad spot but she wouldn't move it. With all my cats I don't put up a tree, I decorate the windows with Xmas decals instead.
So how's your tree decorating and how are you going to keep the cats from attacking all the hanging balls?
I am freakin' shot this week. I got ready to go have my hair dyed then checked the appointment card and it isn't until 12/12; which I read as 12/2 because I didn't have my readers on my face...I could have been doing a bunch of other things today instead. Luckily I have no appointments tomorrow for myself or my Mom so I can finish everything tomorrow.
Hi Kiwi, today it is snowing and cold in Colorado. So enjoy that summer weather. As you know, Christmas is a never ending season of shopping. I just go with the flow. I am not a great shopper. Well for now, take care.
Oh you poor thing. I mean that quite sincerely. You must have been going crazy being followed around all day. I hope the weather improves tomorrow for you.
I'm having feelings of de ja vu with this daily count down. At least you're not living out of suitcase this time.
I have given much thought to making a career out of photography. It was my choice for career when I filled out my navy application forms back in 1994. Too bad things never worked out there, I'm sure I would have had a great time.
The photography is top of my list of possible careers for life in the USA one day. I'll settle for it just being a past time like it is now. I'll take photos of anything just for the chance to be invited places, kind of like I do now.
You're going to think I'm crazy but I've always had this sort of day dream of being "photographer to the SEAL teams" You know taking photos for them of their families while they're away.
I'd make a career out of photography just as long as it never destroys my passion and excitment for taking photos.
I've been feeling a little down this evening, my own fault for getting my hopes and expectations up over something trivial. So any way I was sitting here with a cup of coffee feeling sorry for myself and I got an email just now from my army contact. They want 2 more pages of photos added to that site I sent you the link to. Apparently everyone is raving over the photos and they want to see more! The one 'parabat' I met 2 yrs ago wants my video clip of the horse event for a project he's working on.
When you've got time to sit and read an email remind me to tell you about the 'parabats' from the tattoo 2 years ago!
I hope you find those photo albums. Nothing worse than losing photos you cannot replace. That's why I'm glad digital cameras exist, I can keep all my photos on DVD's, multiple copies.
My new FB friend is Michael Sauers. The VP and co-owner of Forged Clothing. Don't know how he found me or why he sent the friends invite but I'm thrilled to pieces. He's sexy as hell and drop dead gorgeous and a former Navy SEAL and a year older than me and his business partner is Ryan Williams, another former SEAL and drop dead gorgeous hunk. I've only spent like 6 hours today looking at his FB page over and over again!
Had a fantastic Sunday. Spent a few hours at the airport watching 3 Gripen and 2 Hawk fighter jets come in to land. The airforce is practicing for the World Cup next year as well as to show some air strength at the draw in December. It's kind of funny watching our airforce jets try and practice for possible plane hijackings of commercial planes an they're using a little 8 seat plane as the target. As if any terrorist will obey a demand for them to land at the airport and surrender. Oh and the powers that be don't see why they should consider a plane being crashed into a building as a scenario since the airspace around the stadium will be closed down so no aircraft will be allowed into the airspace. They actually think terrorists and hijackings will be normal right thinking people who will obey the no fly zone. Glad I'm not involved with all that stuff, I just love having the planes come over my house!
By the way have you been on facebook lately. I got a friends request this morning from someone and it blew my mind when I accepted and found out who it was. I think the neighbors heard me scream in excitement.
No worries, you're not being mean. Hell that's what everyone tells her "get a life" the thing is she was like that before my dad died. About 4 years ago she got into such a temper tantrum when she found out my sister and I chatted on the phone every Saturday while she was at work. My dad had to give her a talking to like she was a child. She goes into a near coronary when she finds out I'm with my brother and sis in law. It's almost funny to see how much she panics when she can't hear what's being said. Fun and games aside sometimes you just need to talk to someone or talk out a problem and everyone in the family knows I don't blab, I keep secrets, they can talk to me about anything and I won't tell unless they want me to.
Enjoy your parent free time. Hope you get lots of writing done. 8 days to go right?
Yet more sympathy for you from my end. I know just how you feel. I'm looking forward to the aunt and uncle visiting it's only the 2nd time since 1979 that I'll see them, 1st time was 2007. they are cool people. Only issue is now that my mother knows they and I chat on YM and facebook and email weekly she's in full on paranoid mode. Since she's found out I knew about my sister a year ago I'm pretty much prevented from talking to family and friends without her present. She's so paranoid about what I know. I've taken to using YM to chat to people these days instead of the phone. And Yes I have been a sneaky devil and I have been having fun playing with the paranoia, I'm a bad girl But as Meatloaf said "Good girls go to heaven Bad girls go everywhere"
How's it going with the parents? My aunt and uncle arrive from England in 16 days. I'm expecting drama rama from my mother, lots of waterworks, huge amounts of manipulating, daily damage control on my part and a month long headache and I still have Christmas shopping to do!
I'm considering taking up drinking margaritas or asking the doctor for prozac, lol
I love turkey...just not looking forward to having to have 6 more people in my house...oh well! I started Christmas shopping in early October seeing how December is gonna be one busy month on my end!
I sympathise with you on the parents. I recall being treated like a child at my own wedding. I think it's most annoying when it gets done in your own home. It's embarassing when you are in public with friends and you get reprimanded for using a swear word and threatened with having your mouth washed out with soap. Or how about when you are cooking and your mother stands over you telling you what to do as if you've never cooked before and this is your first time.
You're more than welcome for the song. Be thankful that it was done electronically and not in person...I'm pretty much tone deaf! I haven't had Thanksgiving in at least 12 years and just found out that I'll be having it this year...not looking forward to this one at all but considering that my Mom's health comes first, you do what you've gotta do!
You are not bad! I've had one busy week too, barely any time to sit and rest or send out emails myself. House also needs a good clean and the cats feel abandoned.
It took me all week to finally get that photo I put on facebook! I also got looked at by a Special Forces operator, hubby took a photo of him looking at me in my t-shirt. And I got to meet an Honoris Crux recipient. He let me hold his medal to feel how heavy it is (solid silver) The HC would be comparable to the MOH or VC.
Here is a link to a website where hubby and I are posting some of our pictures. Hubby's screen name is Kremlin and the guys have taken to referring to me as Mrs Kremlin.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I know the time difference probably means it's past your birthday by you but by me it's the 22nd. Hope you had a great day, hope there was cake and presents and a party!
