Trip to Coronado

Navy SEAL trip… I’m writing this blog to introduce myself and provide an account of my recent trip and tour of the Naval Special Warfare Center-BUD/S in Coronado, CA I’m a 24 your old college student and will be graduating this December (2009). I plan on trying out for the SEAL’s after I graduate and am physically ready for BUD/S. Before my spring semester starts I wanted to take a little vacation to Coronado to check out the SEAL’s base…and BUD/S. I’ve read extensively on the SEAL’s and in particular…BUD/S. After a certain point of reading and watching videos…becoming a Navy SEAL almost seamed mystical…and something hard to comprehend. Because of this I decided I would seek out some help and go to Coronado for a tour/motivational trip to really lite the fire. That’s where my two new friend’s frongman80 and Esaych69 came in and provided me with more than I bargained for After deciding to take the trip I posted a thread on the website in hopes of getting a tour. After receiving and sending some messages…via navyseals.com…I was offered a tour by both frogman80 and Esaych69. Little did I know…after arriving late on a Sunday…I was given a call by frogman80 and was provided the opportunity to do the PST with some SEAL candidates who were all getting ready to ship out. Because of me just having started training…I figured it would be a fun challenge and didn’t dare not accept the offer…plus…that would not be a good start to my goal of becoming a SEAL. I completed the PST with frogman80 watching…and a couple other SEAL’s, which provides one with great motivation…there was no way I was going to stop swimming…running…or not put out in front of these guys! I went into it with a good attitude and had a great time. The best part of my experience was the pleasure of being among some very accomplished and motivating guys. Among them were frogman80 and a couple other SEAL’s. There is something to be said about the effects it had on me being around people who don’t accept failure and believe all things are possible. It’s very rare to talk with individuals who can tell you that you can do it…and they actually believe it 100%! The tour of the Naval Amphibious Base-BUD/S was very inspirational. To actually see it…touch it…and breathe it…brought all the books…history…and videos to reality. Knowing the history and some of the people who have walked through the doors and have gone through there was very humbling. Lastly, I want to give a special thanks to frogman80 and Esaych69. With their help and motivation I was able to gain a better understanding of what it takes to become a SEAL. This opportunity has also provided a tone of inspiration and has officially lit the fire for me to reach out and grab my dream and goal of becoming a Navy SEAL. I leave you all with one of my favorite quotes: "Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great." jhensley
