College or enlistment

02/10/3610 12:57:49 / distressed

I am a senior in high school and since the 7th grade or so I've known that I wanted to be either a Corpsman or SEAL and or both. But now that senior year has arrived Im torn between option a- got to college on a NROTC scholarship or enlist. This is hard for me since I like medicine but as a Naval Meical officer I cant lead a SEAL team as I would be in the medical corps. On the enlistment side I could do the SEAL challenge or I could for an HM rating except HM is overmanned( according to my recruiter), Iam really confused on what to do, but either way I do want to be in the military, I have thought about going Marines but that wouldnt work(no offense to Marines) it's  just if I dont become a SEAL I feel like I havent lived up to a legacy of my father. Sorry for the rambling I just dont know what the heck Im going to do but no matter what I know it WILL take me Coronado.

Wow, that's near what my dad said. He was enlisted and I believe he still has some friends on the teams but he said that being an officer would be better, Im not going go on a juvenile rant(as you now more than I do) it's just  I do have this desire to go to BUD/S as quick as possible.

GO TO COLLEGE!!!!  Get your Commission and then make a decision!  You have NO IDEA how many times students change their majors in college.  Use your NROTC "summer cruise" to go to the "mini-BUD/S" and then decide.  Another option (God forbid), is go Air Force Para-Rescue-They DO have Operators that are medical Officers.

No matter what-if you've earned a scholarship take advantage of it-when you enlist both you and the Service you select will gain...
