Officer at BUD/s

07/30/2009 21:10:12 / anxious

I want to go to the Naval Academy for college and I think that I can make that happen because I'm very smart (I'm in a class for smarter students that less than 4% of the 1,300 kids at my school are in) and I'm very athletic. I'm not saying that I'll get into it for sure, but I really hope to and will try hard to get into it. But when you graduate from the Naval Academy you graduate as an Officer, so I'm wondering, How much different is it in BUD/s if you are an officer vs. an ensign? Are you put in charge of your team at BUD/s and expected to be a leader or are you treated normally? Any answers would be great, but don't leave an answer if you don't know.

Thanks for more information. scskowron, thanks for the information, but I've already seen that on the Military channel. But I'll still watch it again and look at how the officers act. And you're right, I meant enlisted not ensign. Cakeraider, I'm in 8th grade right now and I'm 14 years old

Ensign is an officer. I think you mean enlisted.

I've never been at BUD/S but I know that officers are expected to lead. You should consider buying or renting the DVD "Navy SEALs BUD/S class 234". It'll show you exactly how all the men act at BUD/S.

i, too want to got to the naval academy and become an officer in the SEALS! what grade are you in? i am a junior, and i have some info about officers in BUD/S. when they graduate from the academy, they are ensigns. which is about half- way up the officer ranking list. they are put as team leaders in buds, for their training games, and what not...they only get one chance. but that means if you quit, u cant come back...if u dont quit then you stay in. even if you get hurt, you can get medically rolled, and stay in...well i hope this has helped you, and maybe we might even be on the battlefield one day! just dont give up! HOOYAH!

Ok thanks, that was pretty much all I was looking for. Nobody else needs to reply unless they think that they have better or more detailed information on it.

Oh, and I forgot my most important question. If you drop from BUD/s (which I hope to never do) or are disqualified for any reason including medical, are you allowed to try again? I know that if you are an ensign that you can, but I just want to know if an officer can try again.
