So many questions

03/11/2009 22:49:00 / curious

Well, I'm writing this blog to speak my mind. I'm 13 years old and I have wanted to be a SEAL for almost a year now. It's what I want to do and it's not some thing like when you ask a four year old what he wants to be and he says an astronaut or a firefighter, becoming a SEAL is the only thing that I can see in my future. I realize that to become a SEAL, you have to be in shape so I just do some light workouts (keep in mind I'm 13) like the Perfect Pushup which is great, and then I just do wall sits and leg levers and other simple things every other day. I occasionally run and right now I am doing track in school. Another thing that I want to do is go to the Naval Academy so I keep my grades up. But the reason for my posting is I have a lot of things on my mind about BUD/S. I have 20/400 vision which is worse than they allow but many people including some administrators have said don't worry about your vision, that you can just get lasic eye surgery, yet I still worry that the rules might change and that there might be stricter rules. Recently there was a forum about someone who got a SEAL contract and took a color vision test, and failed it. He was able to pass the civilian test, but the military test was just a little bit more dificult. He got a waiver and went to BUD/S, but they ended up removing the waiver and he was disqualified. I am just wondering if I should be worrying so much about such a little thing and just should let it go, or should I take this more seriously even though I am taking it seriously now. I'm 13 years old so the rules might change in 10 years. I just would like some answers from PEOPLE WHO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT. I don't want any "maybes" or any "Well I don't know for sure, but maybe..." I don't want any of that, I would just like an answer so I can stop worrying. Any help would be appreciated.

I KNOW THAT THE REQUIREMENTS IS 20/200 CORRECTED TO 20/20

BUT DUDE THERE IS A LOT OF TIME UNTIL YOU GO THINGS MIGHT CHANGE PLUS YOU COULD PROBABLY GET A WAIVER.
